My 2015 Tahoe with 140K is running good, knock on wood.
My GPS is working, but I think an update is needed as many roads do not show up.
Looking for a fix, but no luck. Amazon, Ebay and even GM cannot help.
Has anybody found a solution to updating the factory installed radio/GPS maps.
There is a slot for an SD card in the cubby between the front seats, but it is empty.
Thanks guys...

2023 was the last update GM sold. It’s so so. Once installed, the usb is tied to the VIN, so it can’t be used for other vehicles.

you can reach out to white automotive, they can get you the 2023 update on your HMI but that's the last update you can get on the factory system
it is kind odd, because I am pretty sure gm uses "here" maps which does sell updates for other brands.
I guess they figure it is not worth the hassle, maybe if enough people complained but I am sure there response would be we have a new model on the lot!

I recently drove to Manhattan past weekend and an updated GPS map would have been helpful. Had to use my phone.

My '16 Denali has Apple Play but i dont believe in Apple products so that part.....

I've tried for years and GM won't authorize Here! to release an update for us.

Have scoured the internet for hacks on how to get a Honda (or similar) map to work to no avail.

I'm all for signing a petition again if someone wants to spearhead the effort.

I would replace the radio with something that can utilize Apple CarPlay. Kenwood often give a good choice. Then, you can use Waze, Apple Maps, or if you're feeling like sharing your destinations with the world you can even use Google maps. Then, you'll always have maps that are up-to-date forever.

White’s automotive is one solution but you have to send your hmi. You can also get the unlock in drive and the ability to watch usb movies upfront drive. I actually got the Ottocast p3 Android box which now I have wireless CarPlay Android auto. I can download any Android app like Netflix or more. I can even see my ring camera on my radio in drive. The Ottocast p3 is so much better then magic box 3 too and has hdmi out. There is a SD card and SIM card too. I just connect to the car WiFi or I can put a SIM card into it. I had it 18 months and could not be happier. Everyone I start the car I have Waze app not from my phone. I downloaded iGO which is what Gm uses. It plugs into the usb in the center armrest or behind the radio. Waze also tells me where the cops are and it’s accurate. I love the YouTube music where I can watch music videos.

I don't use the GPS since I have an iPhone and use CarPlay. But there have been updates to a lot of roads and speed limits that would be nice to be updated since the center of the dash it'll show the speed limit next to my current speed.
Lots of roads that were 45mph are now higher or lower and that can be irritating when it's off. Which isn't a big deal but sucks GM doesn't sell a flash drive update anymore.

I use the Cadillac app to send directions to my vehicle and it works up to date. White automotive can put 2023 for you.

I had an Outback 2015 and last year I was able to update it. I think they would at least keep 7-10 years after. Not fair to buy a 2020 and in 2023 you can’t update it. This makes you feel your car is old when it’s not. The previous gen sold you the 2014 and the last year for map update. They should pair with iGO or some other company and keep it going. I love using the heads up display and cluster for directions. My 2024 Ascent cluster will work with Apple Maps on CarPlay. More manufacturers should do this. Probably in the next few years you are not going to have the factory navigation only CarPlay/A.A.

Personally, i'm waiting on my RV to sell, which is just waiting on a couple of repairs to get done prior to selling. Once that's done, this is getting ordered and i'll install it into the burb. You loose rear HVAC controls up front, but besides that, should be a huge upgrade. and it will allow my to have Android auto like all my other vehicles, no need for factory maps and overpriced updates. I know it's the nuclear option, but i want a bigger screen, and with this, it basically throws a tablet in the center with full functions and everything i could want while maintaining a volume knob, thats actually multifunction.

Yeah, just waiting for finances to level out so i can order one. Should be a pretty easy install. At this point, i should be able to order it within the next month, RV should be done at the dealer next week, then it can go to a different approved shop to get a couple other things ironed out on it, and then my buddy will drive up from Texas and gimme my money, then i order my upgrades for the burb and get to show y'all how cool it is to have a giant screen
