my 2011 PPV is seeing an average of 15mpg overall full to empty. When I fill it up with light on it stops at 23 gallons
1) did these suvs use smaller tanks
2) shouldn’t I be seeing better mpg?

I highway drive most of time. 90 miles round trip a day. Standard regular 87 octane on eagle RS-A and stock 17” cop wheels

I believe your Tahoe has a 26 gallon tank so having 3 gallons left makes sense. Light typically comes on when it calculates your 45-60 miles from empty. At 15 mpg, 45 miles is 3 gallons.

Not sure when you typically fill up, but I would recommend not waiting for the low fuel light to come on before refilling. It can be tough on your fuel pump as it uses the fuel to help keep it cool.

That’s about what I get from theothertwin. In thecopcar I’m lucky to get 13, but it has my camping gear and an 11 gallon water tank onboard as well.

Run better fuel, get better results. Run a couple of tanks of top tier 93 from Chevron and watch what happens.

Thank you for this. I thought about doing this. But I’m new to the Chevy line up always been a ford guy. Motor is top notch all the necessary work has been done. So I think maybe a small Change like this may give me what I’m looking for. It just surprised me a bit averaging 15mpg rather than low end.

Check the alignment, not just to see if it is in the green but set up properly and also check the condition of the tires. Some tires deliver terrible mileage but have other positive attributes. Mine is so bad that the EPA didn't even bother to rate it!

My NBS runs very similar to this, re the low fuel light. When it comes on, there's between 4 and 5 gallons in the tank. Of course, this could vary by the design of the fuel module (pump) sender, when the light is commanded on.

My 2011 SSV with a recent new motor and trans, michelin defender LTX load range E's at 60 psi will give me 20 hwy and 13 city. Sometimes city is a bit better after I disconnect the batteries for a computer relearn or dump some Berryman's in the tank. Cleaning the air temp sensor can help too.

I'd also try a higher grade gas for a few tanks. These motors have pretty high compression and the ECM might be pulling some timing with regular. Take a look at the air filter too.
