I went out and it wouldn't start kept cranking and cranking. Pressed on the fuel line shrader valve and just a dribble of fuel came out. Tried starting it a few times and nothing. So I grabbed my 3 lb mallet and crawled under the gas tank and tapped it then it started up.

It starts up fine now but it's pinging again at 1500rpm+ so that's a sign the engine isn't getting enough fuel.

I'm not going to drive it anymore until I get the new pump. :badidea:

Sucks because this is my daily driver and I'm broke gotta borrow money damnit:mad3:

Anyway...what type of tool do i need to get the fuel lines off? The lines are 3/8 and 5/16 correct?

Is this the tool?

fuel pumps a pain man you cuz you gotta drop the tank hopefully you were close to empty when it crapped out

It still drives I just drove around the corner to the store. Yes luckily there is like an 1/8th tank in it Im pretty sure based on my calculations because my fuel gauge doesn't work. One good thing is this new pump might cure that problem too.

Going to buy a Delphi Part # FG0084 $133 plus tax. Not sure if I have to buy a strainer/sock though? It says it comes with an internal pump strainer but not sure if you use an external one too?

Anyone know? And do I have the info correct on the fuel line connectors?

What's the pressure they should be running at? I have a 95. The fi is different than the 97 you described though. I think this was the last year for the throttle body.

unknown at this time.
when you get the pump it will explain some improvements to its design which includes the internal strainer where an external one is not required.

thanks yeah I read about the specs on RockAuto. Wasn't sure if an external strainer was needed even though it has an internal strainer. This pump should outlast the truck. I'm going to clean the tank out too. I can't see putting a new pump into even the slightest dirty conditions. I think that is why people who put new pumps in and they die in a year because they didn't clean the tank. These are plastic tanks they don't rust but I'm sure crap gets in them.
