Jaycen,

I am not even entertaining mpg yet...360 miles on a new 350 so I know I need to hit at least 1000 miles before I start seeing any decent mpg. My Mustang was getting 13 mpg highway when new and I didnt make it to 26 mpg till I broke 1200 miles.

The original poster wants improved mpg but hasnt stated what his current mpg is.

Disregard what I posted LOL It was late and I missed the fact that there were 3 other pages and didn't even read the first page very well. I would like to say I was drunk when I did this but I can not say that I was. Maybe just a senior moment. Think I will go and have some coffe and metamucil. Sorry about that, I usually don't do that .

LOL I age quick. I felt like a 90 year old man at 26. I think I have started back down the slope again though as I feel like I'm about 75 today. lol Maybe in a year or two I will be back down into the 30's where I belong.

Swapped out for an MSD cap, rotor and 8.5mm wires as well as Bosch Platinum 4+ plugs. No idea whether it has better fuel economy but it sure runs good. Any other ideas? Any benefit to upgraded coil?

I drive mine like I am driving Ms Daisy...I was getting 18mpg on the old motor (10mpg when towing which is what I am hoping to improve on). She is not raised, stock rims, stock tire size, regular old street tires....so I hope I am getting better then most on here!!

I'm sitting at 9-10 mpg. Can't wait to tune it up and fix the leaking intake...

I have found the best way to increase mileage aside form what has already been mentioned is:
- Keep the RPM's under 2k at all times.
- Cruise Control on the highway ALL the time! Cruise control alone on the highway saves me gallons of fuel on every trip.
- Find the least traffic path to work. If you can maintain a constant speed, MPG's go up on any driving.
- Removing unwanted weight from your truck. My speakerbox, tools and misc gear alone is just over 200lbs. If you can get away with it, pull the spare tire for even great weight savings.

That 100 pounds on a 6000 pound truck isn't going to make any measurable difference in mileage. Getting a flat and not having a spare would make for a real crappy day..or night.

Ok I'll reply. For a baseline on a 2 door 4x4 350/4L60e 3.42 with a true dual straight thru exhaust and Cold Air Intake I got around 18-20 on the highway. Not sure in town. Probably 12-15. It also had 31x10.50x 15 someone else installed. I am getting about the same with the same engine and stock air cleaner and cat back straight pipes with 2003 Tahoe 17" wheels and 245 tires in my 1993 Tahoe I replaced the Yukon with. On the hiway In 4th gear I get better mileage at 2000 rpms at 75 then driving between 55-65. Not sure why. In 180 miles i use roughly 3/8 of a tank at 75 versus 5/8 tank at around 60. Tune-up is the biggest thing.
