factory alarm

i have a 99 tahoe that has been sitting for over 2 years battery was dead bought a new one but for some reason i can not start the truck. How do you disable the factory alarm? Because when the new battery was connect it the lights were blinking and no sound! What can i look for to get it started? I know it's the alarm. I think!

It sounds like it might have an aftermarket alarm with a dead siren. Look for a valet switch.

Is the security light in the cluster on? I don't recall the lights flashing on a factory alarm. I assume you are referring to the parking lights.
