Well my warranty is up in another 1k miles. Curious if I should get another. Currently I'm at 80k miles. If so, should I go with a pricey factory warranty or one from another company.

I gotten mine from another company other than the factory. I have had one every since my factory warrant was up. That was 12 years ago and my current one expires in feb or at 241K miles. It pays for it self, trust me. They covered my water pump and intake leak years back, my fuel pump, and for some reason GM gave me a life time warrant on fuel pump so as long as I own truck that's one part I don't have to worry about, it covered my rear end, and trans. With those low miles yes I would search for another warranty and in the 12 years I never bought a dealer warranty. At 210k miles she still rolling strong.

I bought an extended factory warranty because I'm no mechanic and there are just way too many toys/gizmos that can break on my 2010 Denali.

No real problems so far but I'm still shaking my head that I had to take the car in for "Vibrating Dipstick".

I had to get my heated steering wheel replaced and the motors for my power driver seat... It would've paid for a large portion of a factory warranty extension

Usually, only the factory/brand offered extended warranties are worth it.
For GM, it's GMPP

The number to American Guardian is 1800-579-2233 and that is to the one here in IL. I purchased it from Elite Auto Protection 714-969-1019,Feb 2008 with a 5yr/ 100K miles w/ a $100 deductible. I have had no problems with them.

I bought one for mine. To be honest... I've never been a big believer in them, but when the cost of labor is so high these days- and the trannys and engines are astronomical- it's hard to think a warranty is a frivolous waste of money.

Really- who can afford the cost of "healthcare" for LSx based engines and 6 speed autos without taking a hit in the wallet or savings account?

It's not like the old days of $25 parts and $50 in labor. Heck- the clerk at the gas station only sell over prices sodas. These days, they can't even tell you what towing company to call.

So true, my Trans work paid off my warranty, then a month later the rearend went out so it came in handy and the fact I have Triple A towing service was a plus getting it home then to a shop. I tell all I know to at least have AAA, some say their Ins, or cell phone co offer road service, true with Ins, but you have to pay then get reinburised and with others like cell phone co, you are paying $6 to $8 a month then you are paying way to much with less coverage than AAA, when you can pay $80 a year and be covered in any vehical you are in up to a 100 miles tow plus discounts at several retailers.

I just bought an extended warranty with my truck through Penfed. The company they use is Route66 and it seems to be a good plan. 1300.00 for 3yrs/36k. Cover just about everything. Just got the truck and haven't had to use it just yet though luckily.
