So I installed my Escalade roof rack but the rubber trim under the chrome rails is not laying flat on the inside...it's wavy & the rail isn't flush with the body.

Are the rails side specific? I can't find part numbers on them but see that they have different part numbers. Every other part is clearly labeled lhf, lhr, rhf, rhr...

Anyone have an idea?

I believe they are side specific. Do you have the retainer in the center to keep it down? PN: 15916756

I switched the rails side to side...absolutely zero difference & yes I have the collar/retainer installed on the middle bolt.

Can you take a pic to see how bad it is? Was it brand new or used?

Just got home...here are 2 pics. Used roof rack & I'd say everything is in grade A- shape. I have an 03 Tahoe & this came off an 03 Escalade.

Outside looks good...

Inside looks like this in the middle...

Everything seems to go together ok. That collar/retainer doesn't seem to do much other than position the rail...doesn't do anything to actually pull it down onto the body. Is there something I'm missing?

Looks like when it was packaged or laying on a stand that it warped the plastic. you may try to heat it up and reform it. Or it may do it on its own after sitting in the sun for a while.
