Why does my 5.3 in my 2024 Tahoe have an engine lag when I’m just driving between 40-50 mph, and it wants to drop below 1000 rpm’s?

Just guessing, but the transmission might be going to a higher gear at the altar of fuel economy.

Have you put a quality bi-directional scanner on it to see if there are any existing trouble codes?

Also, with the scanner, you can observe in real time what may be happening when you hit that engine lag threshold.

Can a more detailed description be offered?

Is this with heavy throttle input, moderate input? Or no throttle input?

Put it on L9 see if there is a difference.
When I put it in L9, there’s no issue, only when it’s in D, it’s like it’s in between gears and the rpms are at 1000 with no throttle response with the lag until you throttle hard
