I installed 2 upstream Denso sensors...no mention of programming.....but....after about an 80 mile run, I am getting a CEL. Code is P0171. My cheapo tool says "fuel trim lean".

Report on my switching the Denso sensors left to right......truck now throwing P013E (1-3) STORED....think it's saying it is the secondary sensor ???.
Makes no sense to me.....any info on this appreciated....thanks.

ps...the GM sensors have not arrived yet.+
below are the Denso sensors: (Rock Auto)
that are throwing the codes........

2012 CHEVROLET TAHOE 5.3L V8
DENSO
2344668 (234-4668) Oxygen (O2) Sensor
$ 28.99
$ 0.00
2
$ 57.98

I had to return my densos because they were doing the same thing I think the only option I had at the time was a Bosch sensor from the parts store and I never had a issue since

Ps the rear 02s don’t do much I actually delete them out of all my trucks when I have them tuned and put headers and exhaust on them so it’s one less thing to worry about…

That's a driver's side, post CAT sensor code. I suspect that your P0171 code is causing this other code, so I'd ignore it until you get the upstream ones working properly; either that or fix what else is causing the lean code.

For the lean code, check for intake manifold and exhaust manifold and pre-cat pipe leaks leaks on the driver's side, since it's not indicating on the passenger side.

Would you have short- and long-term fuel trims to share, at idle and at 2000 rpm or so?

No fuel trims as I am not well versed in what my scanner can do. It is an Innova 3040RS v1
But
My new O2 sensors OEM came in today. They are also Denso, but a different #.
I am gonna put them on, clear the code, and see what happens. May be o k then.

I will report resullts back here after running some.
Thank you gents for your advice on this.

All ok now with the new OEM sensors...no CEL. I now have a lot of $$$ in sensors. Frankly... I screwed up by ordering non OEM the first time.
