Only a block or so from home, DIC message 'service charging system', then 'battery saver active', then battery warning light. Turned around and put it back in the garage. On an automatic battery charger over night, battery is still dead, 0.0 volts. Fob does nothing, had to use the physical key to open the door.

So, without power, interlocks dont work, I can't shift into neutral, how do I get it out for a tow truck?

A couple of 'consumer grade' jump packs didn't do it, but the tow truck's bigger jump pack allowed it to start and kept running long enough to get it out of the garage and onto the flatbed. Replaced the battery and alternator.

But I'm still wondering...if your battery is dead, and you can't reach it with jumper cables or jump pack, is there a way to put the transmission in neutral?

(My old Honda Accord had a secret switch somewhere underneath the center console, IIRC.)
