I have a 2002 Yukon XL that I just bought. I have a question about the lights in the heater controls. Are there lights in the bottom row buttons (outside air, recirulating air, AC and rear defrost)? When my headlights are on, all of the dash iights work, but the 4 mentioned buttons don't light up. I'm not talking about the small round amber light that comes on when the switch is turned on, I'm talking about actual lights that illuminate the buttons at night? Thanks

It looks like that is a yes...
Here is my 04.

It looks like I have the rear and front defrost buttons with lights out. But you can see the other buttons in the photo are lit up at night.

Thanks, but I have the older version of the computer controlled HVAC controls. They look like this:

Great. Thanks much. I guess I need to replace the bulbs in mine, if that's possible.

Thanks, but I have the older version of the computer controlled HVAC controls. They look like this:

I have used kits from this place (4x4 switch, headlight switch, etc.) for my '04 and am happy with the outcome: https://carradiobulbs.com/. Sometimes they have videos that apply to the particular unit.

For yours, check out this sub-page and look for your HVAC control. They probably have the stock incandescent bulbs or an LED upgrade. https://carradiobulbs.com/store-4/silverado-sierra-and-suvs-1999-2002/

Thanks, I stumbled across them in my search. It's good to have a recommendation for them. How difficult was it to solder the new bulbs in? I'm leaning towards just shipping my controls to them and letting them do it.

Not really all that difficult for me, but I've done a bit of soldering over the years. Getting the switch bodies apart without breaking tabs can make me a little uneasy, but doing that in warm temps -- like in the house -- after they warm up a bit seems to make it easier. Plastic and cold together is a recipe for breakage.
