I recently aquired this 02 tahoe. I was an old fire chief car, then became a support vehicle at a sub station where it mostly at outside the fire dept. Started every few days, driven once in a blue moon. After getting it home i noticed the volt guage on dash was reading higher than 14v as if to indicate carging batt? Checking batt volts great! Assumed it was over charging batt amd internal volt reg was malfunctioning. New Alt & Batt. No change? Plugged scanner into OBD found MAP sensor was bad, ok no big deal, got new sensor come to find out squirrels had chewed wiring, got pigtail from salvage, fixed. Noticed Oil Pressure switch was also chewed, fixed that. Looked for any thing else they chewed didnt find anythig till plugged into OBD again. Crank Position sensor fauly, (nope damn squirrels). Fixed and replaced that since i was there. Now all this time it has run great!
The overhead map lights, dome, dash, and door panel lights havent worked since i bought it.
I checked fuses, found #58 CTSY LMP blown, replaced it. Map light, and dome light worked once. Fuse still good, just no lights. One afternoon was surprised once again when wouldnt start and security msg poped up in left hand box msg ctr? After checking PCM connection to be sure nothing chewed and was secured. Discovered "Blue" side has about 6-8 pins severly corroded. (It actually came apart in pieces) back to salvage yard got a pigtail with same yr,make, model, and colored wires. Aswell as ordered a programed to VIN PCM. Made the repair. Starts no problem. "Security" still on? but starts so progress! (Baby Steps) Tried several attempts to do a PASS Re-Learn, no success yet. Reaserching because of light issues, and unable to reset. Got a salvaged BCM to try(same yr,make, model and part number) No Success!
