Last year I bought a 1997 2wd 2dr Tahoe. PO says it has a Belltech kit on it. He also installed air shocks in back. I haven't driven it much, but am now driving it more, the rear is killing me. I looked underneath, it looks like it should have a notch for how low it sits. I think that's why the PO put in air shocks. Problem is, the air shocks ride harsh. I don't want to notch it, but want to get it 1-2" higher in the back. Any thoughts? Add a leaf? Lift shackle. I just need more space between frame and axle.

Here it is air'd up 1-1.5"...

forget that get some new springs packs to lift the rear. you look like your are missing 3 leafs compared to the original. did they just cut them out to lower it?

don't lower so i avoid them. i would like to see a close up of the center of the pack and the view of the other half. with those i should be able to say if they were cut or those springs you linked were used in some fashion. will help find a better solution as well. your pics came out just btw. i will say tho that based on parts book at this time you appear to have lowering springs or someone did cut some and res tacked leaf pieces in different order. pics of the other side will help answer that and more.

well those look like purpose made lowering springs and not chopped ones. let say those ones you have lower say 5-6 inches(guessing here unless you know for sure with a part number or something.). if you want to raise it up I would replace with springs that lower say 2-3 inches or what ever number seems correct from your own analysis being near the suv. technically that will give you more height. you follow? i don't see any other modding on the rear then that right now. I also can not say for sure weather or not a add a leaf or the existing air bags will work together after raising it as well because the air bags depending on design be be stretched out with the vehicle raised. you are closer to your vehicle to see parts and numbers so you will be able to do a better job of finding details about capabilities. unless you get that info to us here.

Yea, I think I will replace the springs I have with a Belltech 3.5" dropped leaf. I have searched on the net for any springs that look like mine. No luck.

Also, it looks like there are shock extension brackets. Do I still buy shocks for dropped vehicle or stock height shock?

BTW: Thanks for the help!!!

They look like the ones I just took off of my Tahoe. I believe those are bell tech lowering leafs 3.5 to 4in. If you like the ride I would just get the DJM shackle risers. It will lift it up about an inch, that makes a big different. I bought my lifting shackles from Tony, he is a vendor on this site and might chime in here. Great person to deal with. Here is a picture of mine.
