Tint and tails because you've lived without a remote start in the cold/heat before and so has everyone else at some point!

Wow. lots of very valid points. but ^^this statement ^^ is only somewhat true for me. I got my hoe in November but couldnt drive it by myself until like late January so I really didnt put up with the cold in my own truck for too long and my bro has remote start on his silvy and it was very nice cuz I rode with him to school everyday before I got my hoe. with the reasons people have given I think Im goin with remote start. Like I said earlier, Im more likely to buy the tint and tails myself if I can divide them up and not take such a large chunk out of my money.

and one more thing.... I think remote start is more logical cuz when I get up in the morning im usually runnin kinda late so I dont have a whole lot of time to let my truck warm up before I leave so itd be easier on the engine if I got the remote start and just started it up as soon as I woke up. That way I wouldnt be tryin to run and gun as soon as I start the engine.

This leads me to my next question. What remote start system should I get? Basically just say what you have if you have one and what modules you have maybe and price on everything (parts and installation)

hahahaha thats hilarious. When my mom asked me what I wanted for Christmas I said, "an iPhone" and she said no because its a recurring bill. but what I dont understand is why my brother has one that she pays for and he has like 3 drinking tickets and is basically rewarded for it. whereas I dont even drink or nothing and she wont even consider it. I even told her I would pay for everything for it and she wont do it. pisses me off...

I have an AstroStart remote start. I've been looking at an alarm/remote start, but can't justify the money for something I already have. VIper has some cool fetures, if you have an iphone, but I think almost anything made by DEI would be a good investment.

mannnnnnnn i live in california and it's cold as shit outside so i choose the remote start instead of waiting in the cold ass leather seats waiting for ur truck to get warm...

tint will only cause more attraction to the cops.. well to me that is, so i always gotta ride with my windows down so i won't get another fix it ticket and it's been coldddddddd lately... ( i've gotten 3 so far)

I vote remote start, it will come in handy when your running late and your truck is warming up while your getting dressed. As far as what kind, I would say pretty much anything made by DEI just make sure you get one with the 2way pager remote.

ok so ive decided on the viper 5901 2-way security and remote start system. The place I got it priced at said it would be $500 for the parts and $70 for the install. Is this a decent price or should I look elsewhere for a better price?

IMO order it, but first make sure you can find a place that will install it with out buying from them. Bestbuy does I know, but trusting bestbuy is the thing. Its worth more than the full price of the unit to go somewhere other than bestbuy. lol

First, my vote.

No brainer. Remote start. If I could afford it, I would get one today. It's not fun starting the truck at 0 degrees and freezing until you get to where you need to be, which is right when the truck is starting to warm up....lol.

Second, I may be able to afford it with that one on ebay..... ;)

ok i just got off the phone with them and they were gettin kinda ****** with me when I said I wanted to bring them something to install. I said, "If I were to bring you the exact same alarm system, the viper 5901, (which is the one they have there in their store) would you install it?" he said yes but I wouldnt get the viper warranty. and if I didnt buy it from them then they were gunna charge me like $300 for install cuz they are **** suckers sometimes.

---------- Post added at 06:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:59 PM ----------

visit a couple local dealers, I was priced like $270 installed for one...

was this for the viper 5901? or just the simplest version of a remote start?

also they said it would be $570 PLUS tax so something over $600 installed
