My 22 Denali was stolen and insurance didn't require me to send my key fobs in for the claim. I bought a used 23 Denali and it only came with one key. Can the 22 keys be reprogrammed for my 23? I called a locksmith and was told that this isn't possible and I would need new blank keys.

I think you asked the wrong question.

The right question is: "Can my 2023 Vehicle be programmed to use my 2022 Key Fob."

According to the parts catalog the P/N for the Fob on a 22 Denali is 13548435
The P/N for the key fob on a 23 Denali is: 13548435

This would say it is definitely possible to program the old fob to your new vehicle.

I would simply ask a locksmith:
"I got another FOB, can you program it to my vehicle?"
or ask the dealer the same question.

Note, a blank/new FOB is around $65, the programming may be a bit more, but you have this issue either way. So, looks like if you cannot reprogram your old ones...a new one is pretty inexpensive.

But, there has to be some way to reset a used FOB to new...guessing requires the dealer's tools.

Thanks @WalleyeMikeIII for the detailed response. I've never heard of resetting a fob for a different vehicle but thought I would ask if someone's done it before. Hate to see two good fobs go to waste but I'll see what the dealer says.
