Just picked up a '99 Yukon with 245/75/16s. I found some good looking used OEM 17" wheels that I might buy. They have 265/70/17 Coopers on them that I will swap out eventually with some Toyos or Michelins, most likely.
I don't usually mess with wheels on my cars because I'm kinda boring that way, but I think I'll like how 17s will fill out the well a little better.
If I get the 17s and don't lift the Yukon, can I assume that nearly any reasonably width tire will clear the area within the well when I'm turning?
In other words, when I buy new tires, does the shop know exactly which sizes will fit even though the stock wheels are 16"?
I know this is a rookie question, but like I said, I usually don't buy aftermarket wheels. I saw one recommendation to upgrade the brake calipers if I make the switch--any other advice?
Pictures of your setup are welcome!
