i have brand new c5 z06 brakes and was wondering if it would be possible to put them on my tahoe, would they fit? and is it worth it to do or are the stock brakes better?
I use to have a C5 Zo6. First there is nothing special about that model Z06 brakes they are only painted red and use different pads. On mine I removed the fronts and built a bigger brake system for mine.
The C5s use a 12.75" rotor. I think the Tahoe stock rotor is 13" so that is no advantage. Also if I remember right the piston sizes on the C5 front calipers is about 1.75" doubt the tahoe has smaller pistons. From the looks of them I would say the Tahoe's are bigger but never measured the tahoes.
I can't see it being any upgrade at all probably a downgrade.
thanks for the input, and yes i was just talking about the calipers. But if they are not going to be any kind of upgrade im willing to sell them, i have stoptech rotors also.
John Powell at Powell Motorsports in Canada would be very helpful for you to get in touch with concerning this subject. He can be found at gmsportcompact.com and uses the name qwikredline. He is also listed as a vendor there under Powell Motorsports. He has tons of experience in Corvettes and making race cars for GM, such as the Time Attack Cobalt.
