well my trans went out a while ago so i havent been on here much. been collecting sas parts too.

have a ongoing thread here with a lot of chit chat and ideas http://www.gmt400.com/forum/showthre...axle-adventure

got a check from insurance for 1500 for the door damage from a while ago so tryig to find someone to rebuild my trans and whatever is left use that towards the fabworx sas brackets. goal is for aorund 8 inches and on my 35s. will be 10 bolt front and rear 456 gears 91 241 t case.

-so far i have done-
removed trans
found tcase-150
front axle-traded winch bumper
flat tops-90
52" springs-35
u bolt s and plates-40
tore down axle
installed ebay ss headers

-parts planned-
fab worx kit http://www.fabworxoffroad.com/3252-s...le-conversion/
wfo steering kit http://www.wfoconcepts.com/pr/Drag-l...3163/4295/4425
wfo steering arm http://www.wfoconcepts.com/pr/Dana-4...3168/3461/3709
pitman arm http://www.wfoconcepts.com/pr/Superl...3163/3360/3361
wfo shackle flip http://www.wfoconcepts.com/pr/Shackl...3203/3460/3475
shock hoops http://www.wfoconcepts.com/pr/13-Tal...3165/3458/3713
also thinking about the sky track bar kit. my buddy said it helpd his truck out alot

thats the basic plan. not set in stone may change. not sure on shocks yet or which gear set to get.

axle still needs
ball joints
knuckle machined
rotors
new spindle bearing
locking hubs
calipers and pads

honestly no. had the axle since july i believe and havent made much progress on it. been so long since ive driven it once i get a trans in it i want to drive it till i have all of the parts or mostof them so i can get the axle fully built and hung. trying to get a trans in the next week or so. had to push it outa the shop today because the back room of bays they are relotating the lifts to the main shop. axle needs the knuckle machined the steering arm, pitman arm, ball joints, all brakes and studs to match rear. going to get it regeared to 4.56 while its apart and regear the rear at some point or put a 14sf in it. want to keep 6 lug to use my 35s

I wouldn't dump too much money into that 10b front axle and I wouldn't dump any money into a 10b rear. I'd swap it for at least a 14bsf. IMO

Hell, I'd swap to a 14bff. You can always swap wheels. Do it right the first time. :)

for the rear id really like to find a 14sf to stay 6 lug. i know a 10b a 10 isnt all that great but its what i got and for what i do with it it will be plenty fine. dana 60 and 14ff would be nice! i know forsure down the road swapin to 14ff and 8 lug outers up front. i want to run 16 black classic lock wheels and 35s or 37s not sure yet need to see how tal it ends up. this wont be a fast build by anymeans im still going through ford training and working everyday so not much time to work on it and trans is top of list right now. i just miss dricing it lol and disturbing the peace

Find or convert a dana44 over to 6 lug. Don't waste your time with a 10 bolt. Also, a 14FF can be converted down to a 6 lug. But a SF is always a good choice

Otherwise, should be a good start. I'll be following this

dana 44 is no better than a 10 bolt. only one that would be better would be the hp dana 44 from a f250 but they are hard to find and the one i know of wants like 450 for it. ive allready got all the parts to use the chevy axle so im doing that

cut off most the random brackets and ground them down. axle is 95% painted. once its all painted im bringing it inside and going to put it back together. since the spiders are welded in the carrier now found a diff open carrier for 40 bucks with gears off pirate and getting a stock cover to replace the chrome one. crossover arm cam in mail this week too. waiting on collectors for headers so i can drive it again and get a inspection sticker. i didnt know the bolts on 10b carriers were left hand thread so i stripped them all out trying to remove the gears so i got a used set off ebay sittin at house now.
