The motor resistor is my guess. It is like a $20 part. take the glove box off and you will see it in the top left area back there. Two 7mm? I think bolts to get it out. pretty easy really and I hope you have small hands to get in there.

1) get the new resistor
2) take off the glovebox
3) unplug the resistor (plug on top)
4) un bolt it, two screws
5) remove the old one
6) slowly and carefully put the new on in, it will fit you may have to slightly bend the coils...a little
7)screw it back in place
8) plug it back in and test it out.

When you see it you will understand how easy it is.

Sorry about reviving an old thread but I'm having the same issue. I have no fan at any speed setting. I already replaced the blower resistor and nothing. I replaced the fan switch and still nothing. The only thing I have left to replace is the blower motor itself. I am getting around 5 volts or so on the lower speeds and almost 12 volts at the highest speed. And I am getting no voltage on the ground wire from the blower motor. I'm thinking that the blower motor is shot but I don't want to spend $50 or $60 and be wrong again. What do you guys think? Any help would be appreciated very much. Thank you.

Ok, so after a little bit more troubleshooting and taking out the blower motor. There was water that dripped into the blower motor housing and froze into the fan blades and that was preventing the fan from spinning. I busted out the ice and hooked it back up and it worked perfectly.

unknown at this time.
Loveliness. Concern on how the water got in there tho. Do you use the refrigerant compressor during the cold to help defrosting windows?

I'll go ahead and add to this that I was having intermittent issues with my blower motor. I finally traced down a bad ground wire. The ground wire from the motor goes up into a bundle of wires above the heater housing. I had to peel the bundle of wires apart and discovered a connector there for both the hot and ground wires of the blower motor. The connector had melted. I cut the connector out and spliced the wires together, and all has been fine since.

Sunlit, my guess is the water is coming from a leaking cowl. Been there. I had water get in the housing and freeze too. Fixed the leaking cowl and have not had an issue

sounds like resistor Jimmy.

Sunlit, I pulled that cover up and resealed it and sealed the screws for the plastic cowl cover also. Seems to work ok now

Blower motors typically don't pass through the resistor on the highest setting.

pdf of the blower motor wiring on my '97:

Could be a couple of things. Obviously check all the fuses first. Then I would check for 12 volts at the plug on the motor with the fan on high.

Not 100% sure on this pp killer but I think the dripping is coming from a missing screw on that side of the cowling, just under the hood at the cowling?

clean out the airbox behind the fan. leaves n crap build up there and cause water to hang out and leak into the car
