Blend Door Actuator

Hey, I pulled the Blend Door Actuator on my 2000 Tahoe LS. Its the one under the Passenger dash to the left of the Cabin Air Filters location. Im having hell finding the correct replacement. Literally, the auto parts store says "it's a toss up between this one and this one". (which doesn't help at all...) Apparently, there are several Blend Door Actuators somewhere in my truck too. Ugh! Does anyone have a link or something to the correct replacement part? Ive attached three phots that might help...

If this is a NBS Tahoe with a 4.8/5.3 , that is your drivers side blend door actuator. I believe the only differences is if it has manual hvac or auto hvac. The only other blend door actuator is for the passenger side, which is buried up in the dash. You do have actuators for recirculate and mode.

If this is a NBS Tahoe with a 4.8/5.3 , that is your drivers side blend door actuator. I believe the only differences is if it has manual hvac or auto hvac. The only other blend door actuator is for the passenger side, which is buried up in the dash. You do have actuators for recirculate and mode.

It has manual HVAC. I took the part to the store yesterday. Took twenty minutes to get the right one ordered. It's the hottest part of summer up here but....a cold winter is coming and that is why I need this to work sooner than later! What does "NBS" mean? Im new to the Tahoe world---been driving Jeeps and motos most of my life. I love my Tahoe and I am so appreciative of this forum!

And then there are the actuators for the rear air, which I just ordered as mine quit working and blows hot air in the rear and overhead vents.

Yea, I replaced the front 2, both hard, especially one in upper center - 05 Tahoe. The rear one was way easier. After replacing, it worked for a few months - after market from Amazon. Big mistake, the original Delco are way more money but worth it.
THEN I found the rear “computer module” needs to be replaced. It’s a little black relay system to the left of the blend door module. Problem is, I can’t find one - out of production for the foreseeable future- none available. And I won’t go to auto wreckers for one
So now I need to set to run cold in summer, then open compartment and set to hot for winter

THEN I found the rear “computer module” needs to be replaced. It’s a little black relay system to the left of the blend door module. Problem is, I can’t find one - out of production for the foreseeable future- none available. And I won’t go to auto wreckers for one
So now I need to set to run cold in summer, then open compartment and set to hot for winter

Out of production means out of production, it's not temporary this leaves either finding a used one or see if dorman makes one

Auto wreckers are notorious up here for selling stuff that doesn’t work or is “good used”, meaning “good and used”…lol

Not looking for a solution here, just wanted to share my experience in case anyone else has similar problems. Otherwise some here might just keep replacing the modulators, not realizing a second issue is happening. Found a good YouTube video to help differentiate between module and actuator but can’t find the link

Rear ac control module failures are not super common so a used one is likely to work just fine. Most places offer a 30 day warranty so if by chance it doesn't work upon delivery then just try another one. R&R is not difficult. Just par for the course owning a 20 year old vehicle. You will find as time goes on certain parts are going to be hard to come by as "new". Some critical parts are often offered as rebuilt or can be rebuilt at a cost.

Well…the replacement I ordered was an Amazon off-brand that had lots of positive reviews. Fingers crossed!

I'm a litle late to the party... But there is one option for "like new" -- theoretically; Ever tried Circuit Board Medics (I *think* that is their name). They could rebuild your original one.

As an additional option, there's a guy down here that salvages GMT800s. I can get him to pull one for you. Then you can just install it when you transition from Summer to winter. I don't know the pricing, but will find out if you are interested.

Same issue on our 03 Yukon Denali. RE: the computer module, do you mean that part is necessary to finish this repair, or is that something unrelated?

Hey, replacing the rear cabin area module not essential to finish the service. I watched a few YouTube videos on how to distinguish the need to repair/replace either (sorry, don’t have links handy). The module I stated needed replacement as it controls the functionality - like a hard drive. The Actuators are either “on or off” for cold and hot.

If you replace the actuator and no change (and new has been calibrated) then I suggest may be a faulty module

One thing to remember is recalibrate actuators after installing - another video, sorry … lol
