is there a way to move the shaft on new actuator? the old one, and the new one are in different positions.

plug it in and work the heat / cold slider to what ever side makes it match the old one.

First: Year, make and model? Does it have manual, red & blue heat adjustments, or auto a/c? What was the symptom?

Those things open up easily. I've found most of the time you can fix them by bending the contacts. Fixed about a half dozen of them that way.
