I am wondering if anyone has a preferred wheel size for their trucks?

After driving an '04 Monte Carlo SS since '07, I got use to the way it handled bumps and the road in general. I know I'm not going to be able to make my Yukon XL handle like a car that weighs a bit less, but I'd like to have a little less rubber to flex when I get the strong side winds we tend to get here.

I like the look of this wheel from a 2015 Yukon XL:

Would going to a taller wheel like this (I think they are only a couple of inches larger diameter wheels)
get me closer to where I want? (And have nice looking wheel that what the last owner put on them)

For the 2000 to 2006

20's look good and ride best,

22's look best and have an ok ride.

24's look good and ride worst

IMO, I would do 22" > 24" > 20"

When i went from the stock 16 inch wheels to 20`s with 275/55`s the handling improved a lot without ride quality suffering.

I just bought a set of the wheels you have pictured a few months ago and love the way they look on the older yukons and tahoes I`m just too lazy to change my sig pic with the old wheels on there.

I agree wholeheartedly with Nathan on this but I went with the 20" wheels replacing my OEM 17" wheels. I
prefer the nicer ride and the looks are still much improved.

I only have one data point since my '05 came with 20" wheels, but I find the ride very comfortable and the handling excellent.

My Yukon came with a set of dealer option flared 6 spoke chrome rims that weren't quite my style (and still in my profile pic). I spent about 6 months trying to find a reasonably priced set of OEM take-offs like the ones you attached a picture of, but when they turned up they were always still out of my budget. A few weeks ago I found a set of OEM 5306 polished aluminum 20" rims for $400 on Craigslist, moved my tires over to them with fresh TPMS sensors, and think they look great.

Don't forget that different tires on the same diameter wheel, and different aspect ratios, will affect ride/handling as much as the wheel diameter itself.

I'm really liking the 285/45/22 (Newer Escalade Tire Size) on my 00 Suburban. Switching to 275/40/22s next week as I'm lowered and need a little less tire. We'll see how it rides, but I'm going to like the responsiveness of the reduced sidewall.

I get that, but I eventually want to replace the rims that are on my truck. The previous owner put a set of GM 5154 rims on it, and omitted the center caps for some reason, and left the stock center caps in the little storage bin over the sub.

These old Suburban wheels look ugly on it.

I personally think that wheel in 20" looks best on an A/T tire, it's what I have on my rig. If you're lowered I'd definitely go with at least 22s. TBSS store has tons of oem replica options.

OEM 20's and a good A/T tire

Those do look quite nice.

Looking at your photo, it looks like you aren't using stock fog lights. Got a write up on those?

I probably shouldn't buy brand new wheels for such an old SUV, and I'd rather spend $1000+ else where on the truck.
I wonder how hard it would be to find center caps for the wheels I have on it on right now?

I wonder if I should try to sell the stock center caps that I have, or hold on to them in case I can find a set of stock rims?

I'll be going with 20s in the spring for my 2006. Oems off the NNBS denali with Michelin tires. gonna look great and ride quality should still be good as well. I think the NBS body looks excellent with 20s.

I'm sticking with 20"s although I do feel the 22"s look better but I'd rather go with ride quality and still look good. I was just in this same dilemma until I picked up some 20" 5308 rims yesterday. Already have new tires for them.

My dilemma was also chrome vs polished aluminum. I feel chrome looks better but aluminum holds up better but I went for looks on this one with the chrome. Chrome is hard to maintain without pitting in Michigan winters

Decisions we have to make with our vehicles. Lol

Thank you, no write up on the lights, but they are 6" single row LED bars with a spot pattern. I modified my stock fog light mounting brackets and mounted these in place. Wired up to the factory wiring so they come on with the factory switch.

What size and brand tires are those?

I'm going to be putting on some hankook Dynapro a/t 275/55/20 on some chrome LTZ wheels next week.

I like the way yours looks

Thank you. Tires are 275/60/20 Falken Wildpeak AT3. Hands down the best tire I've run. Super pleased with them.

I've had 20" and 22" and 20" ride better but 22" look great. So imo find a 20" you love and you'll be set
