Got the intake pulled to do injectors and the valves are FILTHY. Can I just use a rag soaked in carb cleaner and wipe or what should I do? I think the dealer uses a walnut blaster?

I think I'm going to rotate the engine until each valve is fully closed and then get carb cleaner and clean out each one. I'll vacuum then used compressed air. I'll also clean out the intake ports. Any tips?

That's the problem with those DI motors. Catch can or downdraft tubes will stop it from happening.
Yep. I have a catch can installed when I bought it. Problem is I bought it used and it had 104k miles on it without a can. I got a good deal on it but I knew there would be fixes I’d have to do but since I do them myself it was worth it to me.

Now I know why they blast. This is ridiculously slow and will take me 2 years to clean by hand.

Buying a blaster now!
