Ok all you SPL buffs out there! I just ordered my DD unit, went with a pioneer 4300. Now i want to build a badass stereo. right now i have 15l7 and 1200kx amp and 6cu box that i built in stereo school.

but now i see all the stereos like alx and noph33rracing and i want one now lol.
so what are some good brands that arent 1k$ for an amp. ive looked up Hifonics but allways thought they were just a cheap brand. are they very good? i cant afford shit like Sundown Audio, or id buy it lol.

what are your opinions?

What wattage are you looking for?

Look at buying a used MB Quart Discus, there were a good run done up a year or two ago, that do rated and then some, and it's clean power. They're not the most efficient, but they're good for the price.

The Audiopipe amps are pretty good too, somewhat dirty power according to some, but O-Scopes show that they put out pretty clean power, and on a budget.

If you're looking to do 1.5K RMS+ I'd recommend an electrical upgrade to be safe. Voltage sag creates heat and kills amps, so watch your voltage.

Do you plan to upgrade your front stage to keep up with the subs?

yea i wanna upgrade it all. right now i have kicker 6.5s and jl tweets in all the doors but i know thats no enough.

so say i have 1500 to spend is that enough? ill be installing everything my self.. i can get car parts insanely cheap, so another battery or maybe another alt wont be bad.

Go over to caraudioclassifieds.org and there is tons of good equipment on there. no mainstream crap. How many and what size subs do you want? How much power? If you can find a RD D9 for a good price get on. It does 5400 rms @ .75, ran mine at .5 all day never got hot. I miss that amp. You could find one for around 600-700. Then match some subs to that.

You could look into sundown SA-15's, they are great lower priced subs. Probably the best bang for the buck. There's tons of options, DC Lvl 3's or Lvl 4's, AQ's, Fi Q's or BL's, older RE subs etc..

My 2 12in kicker CVX's were $305 for both
I got a probox from bestbuy for $63 cus they were getting new models in(that was a bad ***** too)
and the rockford fosgate 4ga amp kit was $75

Ebay is the way to go just get a paypal and ONLY BUY FROM ONLINE STORES!!

Classifieds here: http://www.caraudio.com/forums/forum.php
Classifieds here: http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/car-audio-classifieds/

Those are two good places to look. Better deals than eBay if you don't mind buying used. You can also contact a box builder on either forum and get a box designed or built. Prefab boxes are ported high and sound sloppy, go for a properly built ported box.

And no, pro boxes are not a good value despite what Best Buy tells you, they're tuned too high and the price is ridiculous IMO. A custom box can be built for around the same price, and be higher quality in both sound and construction.

yea i bought all the kicker stuff i have now off ebay! got insanely cheap deal too. as a matter of fact i was goin to an audio school down in Edmond Ok, when i bought all of it and they were sponsored by kicker. they were really pissed that i bought everything off ebay for cheaper than they were selling it to the students lol.. but im ready to really step it up. nothing against kicker, but im wanting something that i dont have to pay a little extra for the name. the more i read online about everyones big systems, you dont see too much kicker, or rockford in them. you did back in the day, but now days its a bit different.
