No wonder it was making all kinds of noise on you. It started spitting its guts up into the pan. I see what looks like needle bearings and even ball bearings laying there.

Key things to remember here when troubleshooting drivetrain noise. When a vehicle is NOT moving forward or reverse physically and there is noise, it aint coming from the differential, Tcase or driveshafts since none of those are moving when a vehicle is not physically moving forward or backward. But there are plenty of things moving in a transmission that are moving during that time (when tranny is in a forward gear or reverse).

So, I am now hip deep in a transmission swap. I am confused on the seal I need to replace for the transfer case filling up with fluid. Is it the back of the trans or the front of the T-case? I can't really see a seal on the output shaft of the transmission. BTW, it's a low mile used transmission, so I want to get all the seals replaced before I put it in. I also did the rear main seal while it was apart, (duh, who wouldn't).

was messing around with the broken trans and found more chunks. These are the biggest so far.
