auto on headlights

Anyone know how to by-pass on an 2001 Yukon?
My HIDS are getting pissed.............

Just curious, have you tried this because it looks as if this may be for 07 and up???

According to other post, they said the procedure should still be the same, It's just the process of getting to the sensor is different in our body-style.

FOR '99-'02 TRUCKS ONLY w/o AUTO CLIMATE CONTROLS

Basically you will need a pair of wire cutters and a 1.5K ohm 1/2 watt resistor that you can get at Radio Shack. Electrical tape and possibly some wire nuts will work to wire in the resistor. You can solder the wires if you wish.

You may want to remove the neg. battery cable to assure you don't do any unwanted damage to the electrical system. This is not necessary, but a good precaution to take.

First locate the Body Control Module (BCM) which is under the dash, below the steering column. Laying on the floor, this should be visible without removing any dash panels. You should find a purple connector (C3). Unplug it.

Locate the white and gray wires (A4 and A6). I don't remember if white is A4 and gray is A6 or vice versa. It doesn't matter anyway.

Clip these two wires that are coming off this plug (C3). Leave a few inches to work with. Tape up or place wire nuts over the other end of these wires that go up under the dash(they go to the light sensor). You have now removed the light sensor from the electrical system and is now just a dash ornament.

Connect the gray wire from the plug (C3) to one end of the resistor and the white wire to the other end. Make sure you tape up all wires to prevent a short. You should now have a gray wire coming from C3, going to one lead of the resistor and the white wire from C3 to the other resistor lead. Plug in C3 to the BCM and replace the neg. battery cable if you removed it. Start the truck and make sure the lights are off. Throw a dark towel or something over the light sensor on the dash and verify the lights stay off. Try your light switch that has probably never been used and that's it!

here's some more, later post do say it works for auto climate controlled trucks also.

What I did on my 2001 Suburban was to just unplug the sensor and then take a 0.5 ohm resistor, fold it and stick each end into the plug that was just unhooked. Then zip tie it out of the way. Worked fine. I need to do it now for my 2008 Suburban but in the meantime I just hold the light switch know to the left while starting the truck and it keeps the lights from coming on automatically... even in the garage.

my HID's messed with my auto turn on as well, added the Switch Smart piece, fixed all my issues.

ddmtuning.com has them for $25, but you can get them on ebay for a few bucks less.

Thanks guys, I made my own harness yesterday. A little wire and a relay and she’s all better. I just use the e-brake in the garage to keep them from firing twice, give it 15 seconds after pulling out, release and all is well for now.

I just set my parking brake everytime I stop, then you can start the truck and the headlights won't kick on until you pull the release.

even though i have the harness i will kick the highs on before i start it and then turn the auto lights off before pulling it out of the garage...i guess i'm just a lil ****.

I did the procedure posted by tast101 about a year ago and it works great. Headlights manually controlled by me.

I did this on the ** I just sold, if anyone has any specific questions fire away, I just jumped a wire from the black to white wire on the bcm, took about 5 min and super easy.

According to my schematics, a sensor delete is just a jumper across the leads. No resistor shown.

correct, it can be done at the bcm or the actual sensor, bcm is much easier to get to.

****. sorry excuse the language but i don't understand anything electrical at all. I just ordered a new set of H.I.D's for the 05 hoe but I didnt know id have a problem with the lights firing twice when i turned it out how do i go about fixing this for a newb with basically not electrical understanding haha

What I was able to find said this: There will be 3 connectors that can be seen. They are j2, j3, and j4 (left to right). To disable auto on you will want to work with only j3 and j4 (middle and right units). You can simply run a wire from the white wire on J3 (wire A4) to the black wire of J4(wire B7).

Those colors, in those plugs, are not on the 2001 Yukon…..
I was going to do the BCM mod because the Yukon light sentinel is a ***** to get to. Anyone have the BCM plugs and colors for an 01?
