I took a pic of an oil sender on an LS motor yesterday, I didn't realize it was an aluminum block. Pretty cool. This came out of an Envoy, and it's the 5.3.

Nice. Motor had an issue so it was yanked. An iron block is going into its place. Motor is fixable but they didn't want to bother. I think my buddy might eventually scrap it.

If the block is fine, they bring a few dollars.

That'a an LM4, the LM7s cousin. The L33 has a different block number and was only used in full size, extended cab pickups. The LM4 was used in the 2003 and 2004 Envoy XLs.

Forgot about the LMs- nobody ever mentions them. You would be the one to know! lol

What're the differences?

The L33 was marketed as an **, or Vortec High Output; something like that. The engine had a "bigger" camshaft which, coincidentally, is the same grind in our engines. That was the most powerful 5.3 Gen III engine. Not that the LM4 is no good, it's power rating is 5-10 hp less depending on the application.
