Hi there! I was wondering if anyone has added aftermarket ambient lighting to their 21 Yukon/Tahoe. I love mine but really wish they had lighting like the explorer ST, Kia telluride etc. I’ve seen the lights that fit under the dash and under the front seats to illuminate the back and the ones that are almost like rope lights to go around the dash or the doors. I wanted some opinions from someone who has purchased and installed and what they thought! Thank you :)

I've installed them on another vehicle I owned. There are lots of light kits on Amazon so you can set it up any way you like, with the Yukon/Tahoe you have lots of room to work with, it's easy to find places to hide wires. As for wiring, I've seen ones that will plug into a USB or the 12v outlet, or they could be hardwired if the 12v type.

On the ones you’ve installed in other vehicles, were you happy with how it turned out?

Yes, just experiment with placement and hide the wires good and you'll be happy, those kits are easy to use. You can find pictures on here and online to get some ideas too.

Just did this, used the usb in the center console and ran wires from there. Subtle, especially in red, (nowhere near as bright as it looks in pictures)but happy with how it turned out.

I really like it!! I don’t want over the top so I’m fine with subtle lol. Could you attach a screen shot of what you bought? One more question, did you use the 3m tape included or did you use the screws? I’ve read where the stickiness of the 3m tape is lacking

I've had good luck with the tape, if the the surface is clean and smooth it will stick. Zip ties or velcro strips work too.

I've used this style of light before but not multi-color, easy to install.

My ‘22 Z71 has factory footwell lights in the first and second row… maybe it is an easy add on from GM?
