Hey. I'm twiddlin my thumbs bout puttin a muffler onmy truck. The stock quietness is too....quiet for me. So ifigured id come ask the experts. I want to have a nice deep rumble at low rpm. But when I open up. I don't want it to be obnoxiously noisy. What are some good muffler + tip combos u guys know of?

Magnaflow or Borla will give a nice deep rumble at lower rpm's and aren't overly obnoxious. I run a Magnaflow on mine.
You can get all kinds of video clips on youtube to match the exact sound you want.

if you want it loud and deep, do the 3" original 40 series Flowmaster and dump it right after muffler.

The OP stated he didn't want it "obnoxiously noisy", though. Wouldn't the single 40 series still be pretty loud especially at WOT? I've got 40's on my 77 C-10 and they are pretty loud! I was thinking the 50 series might be more the ticket to avoid "obnoxiously loud" at WOT. I've also had the Flow 40's (single muffler 'Ying' out to duals out the back) on previous OBS trucks (and one NBS) and they were pretty loud at WOT. I loved them all but I am a fan of loud

he said 'nice rumble at low rpms', and IMHO a single 40 series wont kill the ears. Now TWO, like you say on your truck has ( I assume you have two) is a different deal. Dual pipes, as where this is one single 3". I have a 70 series single on mine, dumped after. Very moderate at idle, and cant really hear it at WOT.

If you go back and read the original post he states that he doesn't want it to be 'obnoxiously noisy' when he 'opens it up' and a 40 series Flowmaster (even a single muffler) will have a tendency to be pretty noisy when you get on it. A 50 series maybe better suited to keep that rumble but make it quieter when you're on the gas. The magnaflow or borlas ideas are also good ones. I was thinking about one of those on my Burb just to switch it up a bit since I've had flowmaster on so many vehicles all ready.

what the OP's favorite color?

If you have no idea, then how am I supposed to know what his idea of 'obnoxiously loud' is? To me ( since I posetd my personal comment) a 40 series would be fine, for me.
But now if you think a 50 is better suited for your ears, then add your personal post.

I'm with you man. I love the 40 series and have had about 4 different sets of them on different vehicles. "obnoxiously loud" is subject to one's opinion. I was just letting the OP know that a 40 series is too loud for many and letting him know to expect some "noise" when on the throttle.

Sorry if I've ruffled your feathers a bit :High 5:

ive got a 14 inch magnaflow dual in/dual out. with 3 inch tips 12 inches long out the sides. sounds really nice! love the growl at start up and it sounds good at idle. sounds mean when you step on it. the only problem is the drone at 70 mph. its not extremely loud. but its there...

I run MAC...have on most of my vehicles for years. My gf took it to the dealer last week for an oil change and 3 techs asked her who did the exhaust. In the vids my tip isnt on. I run a 4in stainless magnaflow tip and the muffler is a center in/center out full 3in stainless MAC muffler. These vids were the first day and its actually deepened up some.
