Does anyone know for sure if the problems with the 6.2L engine have been corrected for the 2026 model year? I’m considering the ordering a 2026 Yukon but am still a little hesitant.

The 2024 MY is the cutoff for the 6.2L L87 engine for right now,

What you talking about? My 2026 RST has the 6.2L.

As far as the recall it ends on 2024 but I read and hear rumors it will be expanded to 2025 and possibly 2026. We’ll see. Get an extended warranty on the 6.2 I know I will.

I read somewhere that they don’t want to recall 2025 and 2026 yet because they can’t sell new vehicles with a recall.

Right, so, GM is gambling, prioritizing short term-profits before addressing quality control concerns.
So far this L87 fiasco has cost GM at least $1 BILLION, not including future profits avoided by a schidty reputation stain.

When GM recalled the heated washer fluid vehicles they gave each vehicle owner $100.
Besides a new engine, how is GM compensating new vehicle buyers this time?

So you have a 6.2L in your 2026, and I have one in my 2025, the OP was asking about the recalled engines which is 2024 for most models. Not sure where you get your rumors but as of right now there is not any recall on 25 or 26 L87's. Also buying an extended warranty does nothing for a recalled engine under the current factory warranty.

And GM would put a stop order on new vehicles if there was a problem not keep producing them under a recall

Read of many 2025 engines failing already. I am not confident the problem was fixed.

I’m saying get an extended warranty to cover your motor to 100k miles as no one knows if anything is fixed yet. An GMPP warranty will replace the motor if it blows.

2025 6.2’s in there that have bad crank bearings.

Also a coworker with a 2025 6.2 Escalade just grenaded last month. Getting a new engine.

I agree with the guy in the video that the 2025 will be included in the recall soon.

Extending the warranty on the engine?

Extending the warranty is ... something, but not enough to compensate for the customers' lost time & money ...
and it's not enough ... penance from GM to restore potential customers' faith in GM going forward.
Watch the video in this post,
then ask yourself
if you'd DARE buy a 2026 GM vehicle with an L87 V8?
if you think an L87 has a good chance of making it past 200,000 miles?

GMT800 & GMT900 were the last GM suvs that deserve respect AFTER 200,000 miles.

I would not buy a 25 or 26 . I would hold out until I was sure the new motor was different. Cranks done in NY, not Mexico. Getting a new motor installed next week. Seriously considering selling. New motor same crank as the old I am led to believe. I hope that isn’t true, but if it is, how do I feel better about long trips? Love this truck but…Does anyone have different information on the replacements?

I brought this up on another thread and got comments it was all BS.......but low and behold lots of reliable info out there now on 2025 L87 issues.

Can’t tell from the video the vintage of the engines/vehicles in this video. Other than the title, but pretty sure that Dave’s Auto video is from 2024 and references a 2023 Escalade. Here’s a screen shot of that video.

Look, I’m not saying GM has their stuff together or not…I just lost a 6.2 a month ago. But that video posted above is not credible to support saying 25’s are bad.

Here is another good video that explains in detail the additional vehicles that may be added to the recall and the engineering analysis , some have speculated that the 2025's are included. I have not seen anything official as of yet for 2025's

Yes, the OLD problems have been fixed. However, be ready for new problems. The newest EPA rules will make engines more reliable. I don't think those designs are in production yet.

I think the harsher the EPA rules the worse quality we are going to see...probably from all manufacturers.

So I have a 21 high country with the 6.2, I’ve asked and mine isn’t even on the recall list, so they must have different parameters for what’s being recalled.
