55w hid help

okay i have a 55w kit that im putting in my suburban from a 35w kit. so far with the 35w kit i have started the car at night with the parking brake down then released it after the cars on to make sure they come on. the question i have is can i do that for now with the 55w since they draw more power til i get a wiring harness?? thanx

You should be fine either way. I generally recommend wiring harnesses for 55w kits, but it's mostly a reassurance. Most people have no problem running 55w kits on stock wiring in these trucks. I've got 55's in my fogs and have yet to have a single issue with the stock wiring.

okay so im okay and yeah ive looked in to switchsmart and cant find anything about it from you telling me about it in other threads and where can i find A relay? so i stop the ebrake dance

01burban: You can get relays from all over the place. DDMtuning.com has them for $15, I think. Might even be able to get cheaper then that elsewhere.

Scott, some have issues with the HID's not firing on start up, or sometimes even send CEL, and you have to disconnect battery,etc. So some push down on the ebrake to start truck, release handle then HID's come on safer with truck started. The harness just feeds the ballest constant power, so no ebrake dance, up, down, up down

One harness per set of HID's. If you're just getting one set of HID's, say lows, then you just need one harness. Even the cheap ones.

That dude has serious balance and upper-body strength....

Now, for HID's to work when firing up your truck, and to prevent premature burn-out, you need to have a guy like him handy when you crank your truck. All of the attention is on him, so nobody will notice that your lights flick on, then off, then back on again. Problem solved!!
