i keep it in D. if the tranny's automatic just leave it at that, better off not messing with it.

I always leave it in D.... When I had it in 3 by accident one day I gave it gas and it felt sluggish...

i usually stay in 2nd when im in town (max speed of 35) and when im on the high way i put it in (d) it all kind of depends on your driving style i guess.

i have heard the saying "4th gear is for saving gas, 3rd gear is for hauling ass." this to me means 3 keeps it our of 4th gear, resulting in higher RPM's and that also means your closer to your true power band, this will give you cruzing speeds and really good passing power.

thats just my 2 cents

I leave it in D because I get bad enough gas mileage as it is to keep it in 3rd in the city, but I do occasionally shift down going down a hill or coming up to a light to slow down.

3rd. Especially if you've got hills. It will keep your transmission from shifting all over and overheating.

D............as everyone keeps callin it, is actually overdrive. 3 is drive. as far as the sluggish banter and all that fluff about where to keep it.....its all about speed. D or 3 should make absoloutly no difference at all on the acceleration. anything over 50 mph or so, put it in overdrive. better gas economy, lower RPMs, all that is good for the engine.
no brainer

Ditto. What everyone is calling, "D" is overdrive...hence the "D" inside the larger "O".

3 is Drive. That is where I keep it when doing city driving, once I hit 40mph I will put it into 4th/OD

I know my 'Hoe even has a sticker in the door jamb that says to keep it in 3rd/D if driving in hills....something like that.

Overdrive, not "D"

Guess my eyes aren't what they used to be. I see now that it is "O" (overdrive) not D :Stupid Me:
