I recently purchased the vehicle in the title. I didn't consider it at the time but it would be nice to have a rear camera on my travel trailer. My vehicle does not have the connections for the camera, the four prong trailer connection is substituted.

Anyone know if it can be added to my vehicle?

Thanks,
Jeff

Interesting. No 7 prong connection or camera ports? I guess I assumed they all had that. You may save yourself time and money with an aftermarket Bluetooth kit. I have a camera on my TT and a monitor that I can watch it on but honestly I don’t really look at it unless I’m parking it or sometimes merging in traffic. I looked at what you’re proposing but buying the GM camera was too expensive for as little as I use it.

Sorry I wasn't clear. It has the 7 prong connection and the 4 prong. No camera connections. Looking at the wiring harness at the back of the trailer connector there are no camera wires obviously there. I'm guessing there is no way to add the trailer camera's but I'm not sure. I've contacted the dealer but no answer yet.

My Sierra has 2 round ports to the left of the 7 pin. I assumed those were for cameras but I could be wrong. I have a monitor I use in the cab that goes with the camera on my TT.

I would guess they are for the camera. I didn't want to have a separate monitor.

you need the "Trailering Camera Provisions" which are included in the Advanced Trailering Package. You didn't get that option on your build, and therefore the enablement in the software, so even if you added the module, it is unlikely you could make it work. Probably will need to go aftermarket.

I believe you can get one that’s an app and can be used via CarPlay. My experience has been that at first I hooked up the camera for the entire trip but I realized I only needed it when parking, and not every time. The side view cameras work for turning or merging and the rear cameras work for piece of mind. If you find a solution please share it.
