I am looking at purchasing the GM cargo shade for my 2026 Tahoe (This One)

The placement of the cargo shade shows it as really only blocking the trunk when the third row is up. When the third row is down, it seems like half the trunk will end up being exposed.

Has anyone purchased/used a cargo shade in their vehicles? What are you doing for privacy when the third row is folded down?

Unfortunately, my photo won't open. If you're talking about the original cargo cover, it slides forward when the third row is folded. There are places to secure it, and it covers the entire space behind the second-row seats.

Are you referring to the LWB or SWB (Suburban or Tahoe). I only see one area where to mount the shade and its in the middle of the 3rd row

Received the cargo shade. It is...interesting.

The cargo cover basically starts at the C pillar and covers to the trunk. However it does leave about the front 1/3 of the folded down third row exposed.

I will end up creating some sort of cover to ensure the entire trunk is covered when needed. Will post photos at a later date

Got those photos by any chance?

According to the window sticker, my wife's 2021 was equipped with one by the dealer when new, but of course when we bought it some weeks ago, it's nowhere to be found.

I'm kind of interested in buying one, but would be nice to see some real world pics first before committing to spending almost 300 bucks on one. There are some cheapo copies on Ebay, but not sure I want to try those.

I returned it to the dealer before snapping any photos. Had it all of 24 hours before the rattling drove me nuts.

Honestly the placement of it made no sense and made it a useless tool. Only able to be used with the 3rd row down but only actually covering 2/3 of the available space.

Plus it was a pain to install, not difficult at all just cumbersome. It’s far enough back that you need to climb in to use it.

Clearly I wasn’t the biggest fan and generally love cargo covers, their iteration is just shit

Limo tint on all rear glass means no cargo cover needed. I guess one could shine a bright light against the glass and see what’s inside, but probably not many common thugs have the brain cells for that.

Cargo shade is useless… can’t store it in vehicle, can’t use third row with it in.. truly useless. Mine is stuck in the corner of the shed…

Can't use third row? WTF??? That doesn't make any sense and the pic on the GM Accessories website is BS? I can imagine the potential rattling, though... I haven't looked into ours to see how it would be installed, but guess I'll take y'alls word for it. It's not something I must have (never had one in any of our SUVs), just something I noticed that came with the truck and piqued my interest.

Yup. Thanks for the pics. What I don't understand is when people are saying you can't use third row when the cover is in place. That's why I wanted to see real life pics to help me understand the problem. Which, at least based on your pics, seems to be non-existent.

No problem, this lid is very convenient. I bought it on purpose. It is placed both behind the third row of seats and behind the second row of seats, if the third row is folded.

There is no set of hooks (wrong word) for the cover to go in with third row up… truly useless product as there is also no place to store it (short of on the second row floor by the seats)

It is perfectly fixed in the attachment behind the seats of the third row, and you do not need to store it anywhere. He just drives around in a car.

Sounds like we need pics of the interior quarter panels just aft of the 3rd row, with the seats up. Wonder if there is a difference between years, or exported vehicles?

I think I understand. I have a Yukon XL, on the short version there are probably no these fasteners behind the third row

In the XL/Suburban, the cover fits behind the third row. Meaning you can have all three rows up and use the cover over your trunk space.

In the Tahoe/Yukon, the mounting point is in the middle of the third row, meaning you can only use it with the third row down.

If the cover is installed, the third row can physically not raise up as it will hit the privacy cover

As you can also see, when the 3rd row is down and if you have the cover installed, there is a giant gap between where the cover starts and the back of the 2nd row of seats. Basically meaning anyone can look in through the passenger door glass and see what’s in your trunk under the cover

Glad we got the mystery solved.

So, works as intended on a Suburban/XL, not so much on the shorties.

Confirmed on our Suburban that it does have front and rear slots for the shade.

Now I just need to consider whether it makes sense to spend the about $200 or not. Have had them in the past in wagons, but not in any of our SUVs over the last 20-some years. LOL!
