2023 Yukon blower motor noise

Thoughts? 35k miles. It’s at the dealer and they say they’ll drop and clean for $99 and if it’s not debris it’ll be warranty replacement. If it’s just debris I’d rather do it as that’s like a 5 min job but I don’t want my warranty to run out and then it takes a dump on me

Do you really think it is debris? Have you not used a HVAC air filter?

The dealer is trying to boost you - I would insist they remove the motor and show you any debris while you're present, then insist on warranty replacement.

Not a 2023 Yukon but sons car had a bad blower noise on high speed. Pulled the fan out and found a receipt from the glove box somehow got sucked into the inside of the squirrel cage fan. Possibly something with the Recirc mode???

Anyway, not sure how hard it is to drop the fan motor in one of these trucks, but also check the the cabin air filter as well and if you have a bore scope you could look inside the fan via the cabin air filter access.

I changed the cabin filter recently thinking maybe something was in there. It looked fine but I still put the new one in. Kinda does sound like debris to me rubbing the cage fan and drum. What’s weird is that it usually goes away after a few minutes

If it is debris - I would argue that there is a design flaw in the HVAC system, that permits debris to enter (since there is a HVAC filter in place).

this guy is pretty persistent. I’m going to talk to the service manager in the morning. This seems rediculous for being under the bumper to bumper. The lack of diagnostic work is astonishing. They want me to approve that I’ll pay for it (removal, cleaning, and reinstall) if they find debris and it’s not a faulty blower motor. Even tried to insinuate that I dropped stuff in there when changing the filter. I told them when I remove it, I replace it. I don’t reinstall the old one so there’s no way of filter debris falling in.

I’m struggling to find a YouTube video on blower motor removal on these newer ones. Is it still pretty simple with just a few screws need to come out and un clip it and pull it out?
