Is there a setting to turn the little speed limit sign off?

I quit my Onstar packages, so I don't want to keep looking at something that doesn't work.

I read the entire thread and I am still a little bit confused. On my 22 Tahoe Z71 I got dashes when my OnStar ran out. On my wife's 22 Suburban Z71 the free OnStar is done but the speed limit sign still works.

So what is it that you need to make it work? A subscription?

There is also another thread about connecting your vehicle to your phone's hotspot. I have that figured out, but still don't know what the point of that is either since you need an OnStar subscription for the vehicle's Google system to work.

Had same thing occur on my 2022 highcountry. I found this in the owners manual - "Speed Sign : Shows sign information, which comes from a roadway database in the onboard navigation system, if equipped. The sign will show “− −” when offline maps are unavailable". If you go into Google Maps...settings...you should see something on downloading offline maps. After this mine showed backup. Interesting side note...if you have multiple profiles (like husband/wife) you will have to download the offline maps for each profile.
Do you mean Google maps on your phone or car ? If on the car, how does one download maps?

I've got a 2022 Yukon and the speed limit on the HUD has always been blank. I have the full onstar and data package enabled and it doesn't work. What am I missing?
Once I logged into Google on the dash, it immediately started working

Finally figured out how to turn off the Speed Limit sign on the dash. It's frustrating. I've gone back/forth with having an Onstar subscription, and it works randomly when it feels like it. Most of the time in urban areas where it should be easy to get - it's not there. Dumb. I'm turning it off for good.

For those who haven't figured it out yet, it's on the center dash controls. Scroll to the right to Options, then down to Speed Sign Display. Click it, go to OFF, and then it's gone. Wonderful.

So much better like this!

That definitely disabled the speed sign! All gone! It appears you have to have a subscription for it to work so if you don't want to pay for a subscription then just disable it and all good!

I want it to work but on some main roads I got dashes for parts of the road.
my wife’s 23 Tahoe works perfectly. My 23 suburban has issues.
Took it to dealer. They updated the program, so now it’s like the 23 Tahoe where the sign disappears now instead of the dashes (when in a parking lot or it’s got no information ). So it still doesn’t work properly. On major roadways in cities the info is gone). where Is this data stored. There has to be a hardware problem. Antenna or receiver.

The data is in the offline map downloaded by the head unit.
If you don't have a data plan, you don't get offline maps downloaded.

Assuming you have a data plan, it should happen automatically, but if you want to kick start it, connect the vehicle to WiFi (in your garage, to your cell hotspot, at Starbucks, whatever), Hit the Map, select the settings icon, select offline maps, download an offline map...
This will work for a few days if you don't have data...then the map will expire and try to re-download...if you have a data plan, you will be good, if not..back to where you are now.

I have the data plan. The missing sign or dashes previously are an occasional thing that occur in pretty much the same locations. While my wife’s Tahoe runs perfectly. Strange thing is that OnStar and gm tech is not able to help. Att is the carrier so that’s a setback from the start.

Is there any places that actually have an instruction on how to use this google map system? I can’t figure out how to save locations.

If you are signed in to your Google account, it should remember your searches and show you the most recent.

thanks but I’m talking about the Chevrolet system. It seems that I can’t save an address without using a smartphone.
I know it keeps previously searched addresses

Sorry, perhaps I mis-understood...this thread discusses the 2022 model, which uses google maps as the built in navigation system. Are you asking about the 2021 model year, which had the older GM Maps w/ the SD card?

P.S. Here is how google support says to get to your personal saved places:

I went online and bought an updated SD card with US Maps from Amazon for $65 and it solved the problem. Apparently my SD card died from sitting in the 120° heat in Arizona.
