2015 5.3 Yukon Resonator Delete or Cat-Back?

Has anyone removed their resonators? A rolling sound clip would be awesome. Also thinking whether or not to get a Magnaflow or Corsa later on but what would happen if I just cut out the resonator? Any long term damage to engine or any performance drop?

You already have mandrel bent stainless pipes under there. Its a absolute waste of money to buy a catback on your ride.
You will be replacing said stainles mandrel bent with what? Same size pipe thats stainless mandrel bent..

Just resonator delete and swap the fart can. Save some money for that 600$ monthly note.

You're right, decided to just cut off the resonator and replace with another to maintain some back pressure. Any idea on which aftermarket mufler is best? (Flowmaster borla or magnaflow )

How loud do you want to go? If you swap the muffler without removing the resonator or removing the flapper valve, you're probably not going to think it's loud enough.

Not sure with the 2015 5.3s, but when i did my resonator delete on a 2013 5.3 the sound increased a bit not too much, perfect if you don't want it too loud imo.

I got the same truck... I'm thinking just swapping out the muffler for a 18" or 20" magnaflow, while still keeping the resonator

I just replaced the muffler yesterday on my 2015 XL and didn't get nearly the sound I was looking for. The show owner told me he didn't want to touch the flapper thing because it would probably trigger the Check Engine Light. He suggested I drive it for a few weeks and if I'm still not happy with the sound, delete the resonator.

What's the point of that flapper valve? Will removing it trigger the CEL? Any downside to removing it or deleting the resonator?

The flapper valve isn't connected to anything and won't trigger a CEL

What muffler did you install? A 20" one probably isn't going to be loud enough for you.

You're gonna laugh, but I have no idea, just took it to the same mechanic I've been using for a decade or so and asked him to make the exhaust sound better. (That was so embarrassing to type!)

I don't want it crazy loud, I've got a zillion kids sitting in the back... Just wanted a more muscular sound.

So would he remove the valve? Or is there a way to force it to an open position? Should I delete the resonator?

Newbie question, WTH is the flapper in the resonator doing, purely sound or back pressure too... I've had Magnaflow on all my vehicles, loved em. Think I'll do the Magnaflow muffler and resonator delete, was going to do a cat back but ezdaar's post remided me to K.I.S.S.

Well, muffler shop installed a Magnaflow 12249 3" straight in / out. They didn't have the off set out muffler but the bent a piece of pipe and it looked great. We did the muffler with the flapper delete and I took it for a spin. Great sound and for now I decided to leave the resonator since you could here it in the truck. Very slight drone with the V4 mode but that is going away soon and M5 works great for now. I'll post a start up video but it was too freaking cold today.

Oh okay, this sentence made me think you had a better workaround...

Very slight drone with the V4 mode but that is going away soon and M5 works great for now.

I'm doing the 12589 and debating a resonator delete and flapper removal but both are up in the air until I hear the 12589 hooked up with all the stock crap first. I'm in the same camp as it is too dead for me but I'll be dead if my wife hears it every day under normal circumstances
