This is a 2012 Yukon XL Denali that has had a few previous owners, and with that, dings amd scratches. Those don't bother me at all from a cosmetic level, but what does bother me is the potential of rusting. There are a couple of areas that I can see where the paint has chipped off, and I can see the bare metal on the exterior, so I need to tackle these ASAP.

Have any of you found a good, and effective way to DIY something like this?

I have some of the 1000 and 2000 grit sand paper to fan out the area and smooth it back into the rest of the paint, along with stock paint color and a harbor freight sprayer, but would that be overkill for this, where a paint pen would work instead? Do you think that that would be effective enough to put the paint primer back on, with the clear coat and seal it up, or would this require more attention to protect against rusting?
