2011 Escalade- NEW GM engine installed by the dealer in July 2024 and has 10k miles since installation ! Engine has a 3yr 100k GM warranty. Previous engine pulled out at 127k due to AFM Failure ! Also had a 3rd party install a rebuilt transmission.

A few weeks ago the truck started to stall and hesitate when decelerating to a stop, or idling in traffic. AC was running each time. I could quickly shift to neutral, restart, engage drive and continue. No engine or warning lights appeared.

Stalled again earlier today, accompanied by several Stabilitrak and Traction Control messages. Stabilitrack is now OFF, message to Service Stabilitrak, Triangle/car skidding warning light.

Tachometer does not work when vehicle is running. But does work when engine is started.

Engine seems to run well at idle, but is very sluggish when driving and under acceleration.

I do not hear any knocking or abnormal sounds from the engine.

I have not checked codes because I have not had the opportunity to do so yet- may try to do this afternoon.

What should I look for ?

Thanks !

Definitely scan the codes and see what's there.

I wouldn't worry about addressing stabiltrack yet. It gets deactivated if other functions are not working properly. (Like a bad wheel speed sensor) It usually clears up when the actual problem is fixed

Until you pull the codes, check the basics. Battery cables tight and clean, same for the ground connections. Make sure the battery is good, same for the alternator. Check for vacuum leaks. (Spray some brake cleaner or starting fluid lightly around intake manifold, and various points along the intake.)

Off the top of my head it sounds like a throttle position sensor, or the harness plug to it.

But the codes are always the best place to start after normal routine checks.
