2005 escalade Dash not turning on

I bought a 2005 Escalade and noticed that the dash does not turn on some time's. It would be on then it would shut off and the truck would continue to operate. I have to knock ******* the plastic covering so it resets and turns back on. I am new to this, only 17 and bought my dream truck and rebuilding it slowly

My guess is you have some bad solder joints on the instrument cluster. Those were notorious during those years for random issues. There are companies that rebuild them, or videos on how to do some repairs on YouTube.

Might want to pull the cluster out and make sure the connector is seated properly.
