I have a 2004 Tahoe with a dash problem that is sporadic. This can happen when you first start up the vehicle or later while driving. I will get one chime, and dash will show "Unknown Driver" the Oil Pressure, Battery, Engine Temp, Trans Temp, and Fuel gauges go to zero, but the speedometer and tachometer still work fine. Random lights will turn on, but fairly consistent the battery, airbag, and ABS lights go on, sometimes the brake light will go on. The message screen will change between "Service Tire Monitor" and "Service 4 Wheel Drive". The indicator for which gear is selected also disappears

When does it happen? the majority of the times, it will happen in the morning when I start the truck up to back out of the garage or after it sat at work all day. However there have been a few times when the dash was normal and it would occur later when driving.

How long does it last? It can last 1 block or the full 30 mile drive to or from work. Sometimes while driving it will just go back to normal and be fine. If it is happening and you shut the truck off and restart, the dash will act normal.

Frequency? Random. I can go weeks or months with no problems.

Are other things affected? Not that I am aware of, heater, A/C, radio, headlights, directionals, brake lights all work when this is occurring.

I cleaned the grounds that I could find, and it still happens. I took it in to a mechanic they put a scan tool on they only found one code in the BCM, 32610, which I can not find anything online about. They had the truck for a few times when it was acting up but have not been able to have the issue occur while they have it, and have not been able to find any codes or wiring issues.

Could this be a body control module getting ready to check out?

Thanks for any hints on what to check or do next.

Could the code be B2610? Never heard of a 5-digit DTC.

How old is the battery? Have it load tested at an auto parts store. Battery terminals clean and tight?

Do a voltage drop test on both the positive and negative connections between the battery and the engine and body.
