No hptuners for me though

The tuning software is totally worth it. I had to squirrel some money away for a few paychecks though. Its nice to know that I can tune for any future mod. Still, a ton of money... :p

i finished my 4l80e modded cross member. I just added some gussets. It was suggested by people that know a ton more than I do.

I'll add it to the pile of future 4l80e swap parts...

I got a Borla XS Pro from Amazon for $90. I'll weld it in this weekend hopefully. I'm going to use the stock dirty tip to keep with my stock looking theme.

Man, this $90 Harbor Freight welder has saved me some $$. Saved $200 on the 4l80e cross member and about $100 (and my time) on the exhaust.

Perhaps I'll get good enough to weld supports for a 2500 9.25 front diff so I can have a limited slip in front AND back.. hm....

I should really read up on things before starting. I didn't realize I needed to cut the old exhaust out.

Oh, and y-pipe to catback manifold studs both snapped off after soaking in PB blaster. The drill bit I had was too dull to drill out the studs. Also the exhaust hangers are toast. The metal inside them is just rusty dust now :emotions122:

East coast problems. :)

Here I was "laying pipe" on the ground to see how I'll do things.

Exhaust work is always fun especially on vehicles as old as ours! Looking forward to seeing & hear how it looks & sounds.

My post didn't make it... Huh....

I only had time to drill out the studs. I did however make a video of the truck without a catback. It was awesome. ;)

I had an hour and hacked up the stock exhaust and other pipes in prep for the final welding. I also ground off sharp edges and whatnot.

Stupid old muffler is big and stupid.

Your gonna like that borla. I'm really happy with mine. It will be really quiet at first, and after a little while it starts to come to life.

The shop that did mine cut the old muffler and Y out and bent a piece of pipe to connect between the muffler and the over axle hump. Worked really good. Stuck a factory denali tip on mine while he was there. It was worth the $60 for them to weld it all up.

Do you have any droning issues? Is it annoying on road trips?

I can't wait to hear though. I'm looking for better flow and a little rumble, nothing obnoxious. I'm too old for obnoxioius now ;)

Im with tgui. I want something with a better sound without being obnoxious. Im a youngster with an old soul.

Any performance that comes with it I of course would take but don't expect much.

There is a slight drone, but mainly seems to be when going up hill in the 65-70 range, slower or faster and your pretty much good. You can hear it, but its not annoyingly loud.

the drone comes in and out depending on how much throttle your giving, you ease up a little and the whole sound dissapears, give it a some gas and its back

We have a huge storm moving in soon. I wanted enough done tonight to get my fancy car in the garage.

I had a ******* ***** of a time trying to connect the last 1/3 of the stock exhaust. I gave up and put a dump on the end. I was still worried it would heat things up.

Uhhggg, test drive sucked. Sounded like shit. I need to finish routing the exhaust. The whole cab vibrated at times.

Am I getting old? Sigh.... I never thought a V8 would be too loud. Back at it tomorrow.

Quick dump added.

I did not like this before the test drive. As I suspected after the drive the sway and axle were too hot.

Shit... I'm sore from lifting, tired from work... can't complain about the wife, shes still blond, hot, and with a PHD. More tomorrow.

Just stitched together the cut apart tail pipe. I'm still not good at welding.

It's very quiet at idle, screams when truck is floored. No drone now.

Stupid ***** at Pohanka that tried to fix my windshield 2x. Its leaking again.... I fixed it myself since I don't think I could keep my cool if I have to go back a 5th time.

I traced the water after spraying a high pressure stream of water on the edges of the glass. Then I pulled out the silicon sealant

Shit... lets follow the stream....

Ahhhhh.... great gasket install. Goddamnit....

I pulled the trim to the side and applied a ton of clear silicon sealant. Then I superglued the trim down since moving it out of the way caused it to stick up.
