2000 Z71 Double Din

I have seen a lot of posts on double din installs but I haven't seen any from a z71. Mine has the CD player under the ac controls I would like to put I a double din but I'm not good at doing a lot of fabrication. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The 00 Z71 tahoe is same body as the 94-99 correct? If so, I'm surprised a 2din fits with what little space they have in the dash. If you aren't much of a fabricator you might have some trouble, but with the right tools and parts you may have some luck.

theres a lot of space if you move the hvac controls down, but that would require some decent fab work i would think (assuming this is an obs) considering the stocker is already 1.5din its not missing that much space to fit a double, but i dont think theres any easy way to do it

I was thinking of depth behind the dash, It's been a long time since ive worked one, but i remember the 95-99 giving me trouble with routing/placing any extra cables behind the radio. Not to mention the exposed a/c controls that I have seen many inexperienced installers short out so a/c doesn't work.

They do for the 95-99 C/K Double Din Kit from the Detail SS , That is where i got mine and the Double Din and Hvacs moved down Is all one bracket . Im going to move this into the Correct section as I do believe he has a OBS .

Most of the actual "install" was fairly easy. Just screw in the metal bracket to the dash and install the radio on hvac controls. The fabbing of the dash bezel was time consuming to make sure it was straight and even with the insert piece. If you can manage to cut straight and take your time it is definitely worth it. A much better look imo.
