I have owned my Yukon GT for just over 3 years now, had wanted a 2dr OBS since I first saw them (grew up riding in a 78 Blazer, so have always been partial to the 2doors). I am a mobile electronics install tech throughout the Denver metro, and due to gas pricing/mileage I drive our car and my wife uses the Yukon as her daily driver. I went in and made my final payment on the loan last Thursday. Finally mine, free and clear!! :party33: Time to start saving for gears, a 6", and 35's. :)

So, Friday as I arrive at an appointment (about 27 hours after paid off) I got a call from my wife that she was in an accident and the truck is f**ked (in her words). :emotions122: The kid in front of her apparently locked up his brakes on a Jeep Cherokee (his brother's truck) and clipped the car in front of him, and in the process was rear ended by my truck. The car in front didn't want to deal with the police, so he looked at his damage and left without leaving any info. Neither my wife or 4yo son were injured seriously, but now I have an adjuster coming to evaluate and assess the damage/value of my truck. The trans cooler is spewing fluid, and the radiator was pushed into the fan enough to make a dent in it, but I don't see any leaks from that (unless it's just empty now, I've only seen it in my garage after it was towed home). Airbag didn't deploy, I believe the fenders are salvageable, and all front pieces (grille, bumper, and trim) are trashed.

My problem is this, I have Progressive and they stated that they will base the value of the truck on JD Power comparable dealer sales in the area (without looking, they are assuming total loss). I have about 132xxx miles on the truck and the condition is (well, was) excellent as in near perfect exterior, interior, and running condition. KBB lists $3518 in excellent condition for private sale.

I intend to keep the truck and fix it if there is no frame damage, I am just looking for advice on how not to get completely screwed by my insurance. I have looked and looked and can't find any comparable trucks (mileage, running condition, and overall) anywhere near here. Have tried AutoTrader, eBay, nationwide CL searches, and more but have yet to find anything realistically "comparable" currently for sale. I just don't want them to base the price off of a torn up base model Tahoe/Yukon, and try to say that is what mine would have been worth.

I know there is more sentimental/emotional value in my truck than they will ever give me, I was just wondering if anyone has dealer search access to find a few comparables for me so I have something to go on when negotiating if it comes to it. Or if this is hopeless and I am being an idiot, let me know. Before and afters below. Thanks.

It don't look totalled to me,With the miles and excellent condition,I would just insist on them fixing it.Or demand dealer retail value(should be $4300 to $5000 in excellent condition)As this would be your cost to replace the truck.

That looks pretty damn fixable. I doubt the frame is bent. When you rear-end someone in these things, it puts all the force into compressing the framerails into themselves towards the IFS cross members (which is insanely hard to do), so it's usually very physically visual if it is messed up because it will be messed up bad. just my 0.02.

From looking at the pictures, its probably going to be a little pricey though. Bumper, brackets, hood, grille, core support (most likely), lights, tranny cooler, and possibly condenser/radiator too. But I would totally get it fixed, especially if it's in such good condition as you say it its, definitely worth it.
