First site I found that seems to have some good info about this beautiful line of vehicles. I was hoping I could get some feedback.

I'm picking up my new '09 Yukon today (replacing my trusty 2001 XL), and it has the stock (non navi) headunit with the Bose system. I'm looking to upgrade this headunit to a Kenwood DNX9140 Excelon navi, but retain Onstar, XM, Bluetooth(and its steering button), Steering audio controls, hopefully the rear passenger radio controls/headphone jacks, as well as add a backup camera.

My question is, what do I need to make it happen?

I've looked at a Pac OS-4 for the bose/onstar integration. I've found a few steering wheel controllers, most notably the Peripheral PESWIAKJC, which does not utilize IR signals, but plugs directly into the aftermarket headunit for more reliable controls.

My local car audio shop has quoted me about $2,300 for the install. I think I can do it cheaper my self, with a little assistance.

Any suggestions on products and brand preference would be helpful, and if anyone has any tips on removing the dash safely I would appreciate it.

PAC is actually owned by Peripheral (AAMP of America is their parent company), and either of those two brands are, in my opinion, the best around as far as radio replacement modules and steering wheel control interfaces. The OS-4 wil retain Onstar, door chime, and the Bose system. As for satellite radio, bluetooth and backup camera you're going to want to go with the Kenwood pieces for those.

The dash is not hard to remove, but you need to be VERY careful. There are three clips holding the bezel in place on both sides of the radio/A/C controls. The area you need to be real careful is below the A/C controls. The bezel is very thin and weak in that area and there is a fairly tight clip in the center. I usually start on the bottom left corner and work my way around clockwise leaving the one below the A/C controls til last.

When I'm pulling the bezel off, I always put green painters tape around the edges on the dash itself, not the trim piece. This is just an added precaution to not scratch the vinyl on the dash. The bezel fits very tight around the edges, so it's kind of hard to get any type of tool in there.

Here is a link to the tools that I always use on these to get the bezel off.

I'm currently upgrading the audio in my 09 Tahoe, though I'm leaving the stock nav unit. But you can follow my build in this thread http://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3504.

It can be done cheaper by ones self, but depending on the extent of the mods, it can be quite a lot of work. One thing I would really suggest if you are going to do it yourself, get some plastic interior panel tools to remove and work with all the interior panels. They will really help to keep from breaking and marring things. Like these LINK.
