Maybe. But I don't have parking brake shoes in there anymore. They got taken out several years ago when I did brakes. I haven't ever tried to use the parking brake ever since I got the vehicle.
I was using chatgpt to try and diagnose this. It suggested there was maybe something bound up...
I think I can safely eliminate the rear axle from this. I pulled the cover today and drained the oil to make sure nothing was floating around that wasn't supposed to. The gears all seem to look ok and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Only a small amount of filings on the magnet for...
I've been dealing with this myself. For a while I was getting a p1516 and p2135. For a while wasn't able to really go for more than a day or two without a reduced power incident. It would usually happen during engine while driving with the engine warming up. Bumps never really seemed to...
I do have 4 wheel drive. I did have all 4 tires off the ground earlier today. They all spin ok. I didn't try the driveshaft though. I have a gravel driveway so I don't have super good ground for jack stands. Not noticing any abnormal noise or catching in rotation. The only thing I really...
Let's see what you guys think here.
I was out and about this morning and had stopped to grab something from work. When I went to back up from the building so I could leave, I suddenly couldn't. For some reason it was like something was blocking me from moving. But I was able to move forward...
@OR VietVet it had been sitting for maybe a half hour at that point so it wasn't hot. It was warm at the water pump connection. But the long stretch over the fan shroud wasn't so cold either that I couldn't squeeze it.
@OR VietVet the upper hose did have heat. I had checked it before I ran it here when I did the graph from this morning.
@noodlesandsam2 that I'm not sure. I would have to test it.
I kinda wonder now if the issue is something to do with the coolant temp sensor circuit. Is there something that messing up the value being broadcast over the CAN network. Why would the data when I was running the graph spike? Was there something that was making the gauge read artificially...
This is interesting. It's running right now maintaining about 74C which is about 165F (I can't get the units changed to F). The upper hose does have heat. I have a graph running on my scan tool to show the progression of the system heating up and there was a spike where it went to 135C.
Maybe what I should do is try taking the temperature with an infrared thermometer on like the thermostat outlet. Because I wonder if that value that's being broadcast is actually correct.
Changed oil, oil pressure sensor and the negative battery cable. I was concerned about the corrosion leaching into the cable and eventually causing issues.
Also attempted to change my battery tray but I have some rusty hardware that's going to be a challenge.
Tried to tackle this today. I'm gonna have to revisit this later. I have 2 bolts that the heads are rusted down enough that a socket won't grab and 1 that snapped. I do have a set of extractor sockets but not with me.
Thanks. There is some rust on the frame but not terrible. Never had any acid spilling. At least not since I've had the vehicle anyway.
Just wondering if I need to expect to fight with seized or broken bolts so I know if I have enough time during Christmas to do the job.
I had to change my battery last week and noticed my battery tray had definitely seen better days. It's starting to rot away and the bolt for the hold down was seized and broke. I have a new tray. How much trouble am I asking for to change it? Should I expect seized bolts that need to be...
@Joseph Garcia I was not twisting while pushing because I had the smaller line to the rear heater core already inserted. As far as that insulation goes, yea I'll have to find gloves to wear. Stuff my have been fiberglass. My hands itched for a while. I got some on my forehead too. Still...
@89Suburban I don't have a dial caliper here so was just trying to fit a tape measure in there last night. Both measure a bit over 5/8". I have some sly glyde somewhere but not sure where right now, otherwise do have other grease and oils around. The aluminum dorman tees are what I have here.
I have the same coolant leak on the tees. I have the old ones off and picked up aluminum replacements. Starting with the inboard tee first to install and I cannot get it pushed on to the tube through the firewall. Reading through this I see mention of using the GM ones. Do those fit better?
