    Transmission grenaded at 548k, but the engine has never had the valve covers off. Rearend as well. Just tons of hubs, ujoints and brakes.

    Mostly highway. Trans went out at 548k miles. Engine still never had the valve covers off. Several hubs and unjoints as well as a few other things. 100 oil changes or so........... :)

    558,xxx on my 01 these days. A few months ago I finally blew up the transmission at 548k. The torrington bearing failed and upon inspection the entire transmission was trashed due to high miles. 10k on the new trans and the drive train is still going strong ;)

    There is nothing wrong with your oil pressure. Start worrying when it has zero.

    My 04 Z71 has 245k. These trucks last if you take care of them. I have had zero oil pressure issues since I put the O ring in. hope this thread eventually helps someone avoid a very expensive "rebuilt" just because a $3 oring goes bad.

    Yes. The mirrors defrost. The defrost light illuminates when the button is pushed, simply no voltage to the rear. Must be a loose connection. Sounds like it will be a pain to track down. Time to dig in with the voltmeter I guess. Ugh

    Unfortunately there isn't any voltage reaching the window. There is continuity in the window itself but when the button is pushed, the circuit is dead.

    Couple questions. On my 04 Z71, The rear view mirror temp gauge works when I start the vehicle, but after a while it starts going on the fritz and lighting up every light in the gauge. It will eventually go blank, then eventually start working again, and eventually on the fritz again...

    The lever is visible when you flip the seat portion of the seat forward. Both seats have 2 cables. One to allow the backrest to fold foward after the seat has been flipped forward.     A bad ujoint will often PING when going from reverse to drive, or vice versa, usually due to the bearings being completely pulverized and the 1/4" of slop left in the ujoint as a result.     That being said, crawl under the truck and look at the rear inner quarter panels. These things fill up with dirt from driving, get wet and solidify, trapping moisture.
