    Painting interior panels - problem

This is older, but both the door pocket and handle pockets are white too. Stood up really well and its my daily driver. You can see where I used that thick white marine vinyl on the lower dash panels All of this makes me feel like its almost new, but with modern colors not available at the time

    Painting interior panels - problem

No, it made a mess at the time. I used one of those thin plastic dash covers that you rubber cement to the old and it looks great 1 year later. On the lower dash, i covered it in boat vinyl. I never found a good way to strip that rubberized stuff

Yeah, but I dont want to try and hide it inside the plastic guides that fit in the seat. Im good with where I am on them. They are a lot better than the dirty beige that came with the car. I alsready had to sew in the passenger pretensioner.

Almost all OEM leather is "painted." It may be called a "pigmented protective coat" but it's still urethane paint that is on the top which they are calling a "protective coat." It's the reason why water beads off unlike say "King Ranch" leather which is aniline dyed and water drops soak in...

We will see. How are OEM leather seats made? I thought that leather was painted.

We have the Lincoln Navi that has the white interior. I kinda wanted to demonstrate to my wife we could get close with an older vehicle. Honestly, I think it will get dirty, but we keep it clean with the leather wipes....and you can just pull the seats and respray if necessary.

Funny you mention. Those are actually the blackest ones I could find and they came out of a Hummer H2. I couldnt find actual black belts that also worked with the airbags (yep, the 2003s have seatbelt pre-tensioners that fire with the airbag.) I didnt want to spray them black because I was...

I used duplicolor vinyl paint. Black and white. You gotta prep the heck out of the plastic for it to stick, but it works great with just cleaning and grey Scotchbrite pads for rubber (like the doors) and leather. Just soaks right in.

I used Stock Interiors Color: 1001-Black Ultra-Plush Cut Pile The upgraded carpet, and yes, its so smooth and cool that it feels like its moist. Really glad I went with the thicker version.

Yeah, I plan on pulling the seats after this winter and hitting them again with several more coats of white paint. Then I will use a clear sealer. Last pass, I just wanted them white and in the car. They look cream color in the photos, but I can assure you, they are paper white.

    Complete Dash Removal

I went with the glue on cover. Be careful removing the top dash pad as after years in the sun, the clips on the bottom (right under the windshield) are super fragile. Sure, you can superglue them on, but try to avoid breaking when removing (dont angle that plastic piece up) I ended up covering...

Now comes the fun part: In a few months will install the efans. I also need a new set of shocks and I will most likely do the 4/6 drop (or maybe 2/4 who knows.) I also need to get some new big brakes going. Money pit! At least when I get that done, I can upgrade to a performance transmission...

    White Interior update

Here is some more WIP where I had to fix all of the cabling for the 2nd row seats that allowed them to recline and the head rests to drop. The console looks like its different shades of white, but in real life I cant really see it. Maybe its the camera or something. I covered the lower dash...

    White Interior update

Here is a before and WIP I stripped out the interior down to the metal, cleaned it all up extensively and removed and filled the brackets for the third row (which I will never use) The went in the off-brand dynamat and finally the carpet. Lesson learned for next time: Do the audio install...

    White Interior update

It's been awhile since I have posted an update. Finally got the door skins painted and installed. I also put in a 1700 watt Kenwood system with Rockford components and 10" Alpine in a custom enclosure under the seats. I'm also switching out all of the bulbs with LED. What's left? Gotta paint...

    Water leak inside doors question

Okay, found these on Amazon. They are "baffles" but seems like most people use them to protect against water falling directly on speakers. Can cut the bottom part out. Still, weird design from GM to allow water in the inner door, but hey, its a Tahoe...

    Water leak inside doors question

Ok, might be answering my own question here: Looks like, yes, water can get inside the doors as there are two oblong shaped openings at the bottom of the door that let water out. Amazing design. So now I am trying to determine if I can put some similar plastic around my expensive speakers to...

    Water leak inside doors question

It seems like I have water inside the inner doors when it rains. I pulled the interior panel and the plastic vapor shield and there is water inside the door itself. It does eventually drain, but there are components in there like the window motor and expensive audio speakers. The leak appears...
