200K+ club what oil you run in the heat ??

Dangit, I've been curious about our oil pick-up o-ring for a couple of years because of posts on this forum. Current readings are 25-30 psi at idle and almost 40 at hightway speeds. Two mechanics have advised me that the o-ring is not the problem and said that the low-ish oil pressure was...

200K+ club what oil you run in the heat ??

We've been running 5W-30 consistently in ours for all 375k miles so far here in Texas with no concerns. For years we bought Chevron 5W-30 conventional at Costco when it was on sale, but now they only carry synthetic (Mobil 1 and Kirkland house brands). Two-ish years ago we switched to Havoline...

2002 Yukon XL splice pack 205 location?

Interesting...my 92 Bronco had a cluster circuit board issue that affected the transmission performance. Leaking electrolytics corroded a few traces. Is this a similar issue? So, any guidance on where splice pack 205 is for future reference?

2002 Yukon XL splice pack 205 location?

Where is it? Can't find it. It's not where the shop manual diagram says it is (page 8-319 of volume 4). It's not where the shop manual table of wiring systems says it is (page 8-164 of volume 4). It's not where posts on other forums says it is (e.g. "to the right of the DLC" (Data Link...

2002 Yukon XL splice pack 205 location?

Here's a pic of what I see looking towards the front. I've crawled under by the pedals and looked all up behind and see more wiring but nothing that looks like the 12-wire splice shown on page 8-320.

Downstream O2 sensor voltage question, No engine codes

I replace the cats on both banks. https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=1317194&jsn=465 They now have 250 miles on them. All diagnostics have passed and there are no engine codes. I wish I would have captured O2 traces before I replaced the cats so I had a compare.

Downstream O2 sensor voltage question, No engine codes

For the last year or so was pulling engine codes complaining about cat efficiency. Made sense because the cats were making the death rattle sound and the exhaust smelled increasingly bad. Last week replaced the cat with AP/Eastern 645236 from RockAuto. Codes cleared up and all diagnostics passed...

2001 Tahoe 5.3L - Stall while driving, starts but doesn't build pressure to run.

+2 for fuel pressure test. If fuel pressure checks out, then consider this data point... Our 2002 Yukon XL 5.3L stumbled and stalled on a road trip last year. No codes. On the side of the road it would start but then stumble and stall when mashing on the gas pedal. Seemed like a fuel supply...

    Startup Hesitation and Stalling

We had that intermittent P0300 around 280k miles. It made the check engine light flash, right? It was a precursor code to a specific cylinder code (e.g. P030x where x is the cylinder with the problem.) Preliminary diagnosis (swapping plugs, coils, etc.) showed that the issue followed the coils...

Faint whiff of gas fumes near and inside the truck

Project completed this morning. Installed new ACDelco knock sensors and Dorman cable harness. Built RTV 'dam' around the rear knock sensor only (horseshoe shaped, open end towards rear). Per a GM TSB I stumbled across. Removed the rear intake 'baffle', per GM TSB for knock sensor corrosion...

Detaching cruise control cable from throttle body?

I have the same question. Well, had. I pried it off thinking it would pop off. It did, but looks like it damaged the plastic retainer. What did you end up doing?

Faint whiff of gas fumes near and inside the truck

Got the exact Fel-Pro part (MS96587) today and I'm going with that. Took the knock sensors out and the back one has a lot of corrosion. I had trouble with removing both parts. The plastic hole cover would not slide up the wire and instead bit into it, breaking the connector underneath. Sensors...

Faint whiff of gas fumes near and inside the truck

OK, I'm now questioning my assumption that because the part I ordered didn't look like the part I pulled off that the new part won't work in my application. Fel-Pro pulled up two options for the gasket on this 2002 5.3L Flex fuel (engine code Z)...

Faint whiff of gas fumes near and inside the truck

Updated observations before starting this project: Yesterday while backing out of the driveway to park in the cul-de-sac to get this project started, there was a very strong gas smell and I could see I was trailing some liquid. Truck was running very rough while backing out. The liquid was...

Faint whiff of gas fumes near and inside the truck

I did three of them just to make sure the procedure was repeatable. All three came out easily with this process: 1. Used a small-bladed screwdriver to move the CPA clip up (not off) as shown in the photo below. I inserted the blade in the groove at the bottom of the clip and then gently pushed...

Brilliant, I'm now unbocked! My mistake was dismissing later model Youtubes as not applicable. Thanks!

Faint whiff of gas fumes near and inside the truck

I'm already stumped on this project with removing the fuel injector connectors. The service manual isn't any help and I haven't found an external reference that's helpful, either. See attached images for my installation. The injector connector I have doesn't match the service manual. I figured...

Faint whiff of gas fumes near and inside the truck

I found a YouTube that showed how to replace the camshaft position sensor blind. It was quite an odyssey and it took me about two hours as I took my time, making sure I could reach the part and two bolts with my hands and tools.

Faint whiff of gas fumes near and inside the truck

OK, I'm pulling together my parts list to purchase for this intake manifold gasket job. Are there other 'preventative replace' type things I should do while in there? (I already replaced the camshaft position sensor within the past year. I also replaced the crankshaft position sensor, but it's...

    Married into a Yukon

Noob question: I'm searching the forums for "intake manifold gasket set" and I'm surprised that very few hits come up. I then searched for "Your Posts" and it didn't include my post from Jan-20 about "Faint whiff of gas fumes...". Does search only pull up the most recent hits? I really want to...

    Married into a Yukon

Thanks, yeah I'd say it's in pretty good shape. I focus on mechanical soundness, not so much the cosmetic stuff, so it does have a few dings and such that haven't been fixed. Wife driving: Rolled into the car in front of her at low speed and damaged the front bumper, lost the trim and the fog...
