    Ah...it doesn't equate. Just like other GM engines, they sometimes re-used engine code numbers in different generation motors. Sounds like a late 50's or early '60's "409" motor.

    Alright...I do the same! And I try to jack it (or have it drain de-jacked) so the drain hole is angled so it's at the lowest point of pan. I always drain the oil hot so it's thinner and drains quicker. Also mixes up and re-suspends into the oil any sediment that might otherwise settle and sit...

    Filled the tank for the 2nd time since buying it, allowing me to calculate the MPG. Got 15.11 mpg, which was probably about 60-70% "city" driving (i.e., local, non-freeway runs). I'm pretty happy with that. I'm betting I could get a full 18 mpg if it was all freeway driving.

    Mine is like yours...3-button, just like you described. I thought that the lower-right button might open the rear door, but it did not. It's when I pushing it at the rear when I heard clicking coming from the front, which I later found to be under the dash.

    I believe a motor that's running cooler will be less likely to detonate. Of course, if it's knocking, putting in a cooler t-stat isn't fixing the real problem...just sayin'.
